I am also curious about Western and waiting for their decision. On Grad Cafe, there is one person who reported having an interview and another being accepted after meeting with their POI via Zoom. I wonder if all shortlisted candidates require an interview?

I interviewed last week with my prospective POI- for the doctoral, not the Masters program. My masters is from McGill, so it is always a bit of a long shot when you try to enter the program with an MA from somewhere else. I was told that they would be in touch with me within two weeks. So, clearly, there are still admissions ongoing for the Western program.

Good luck to all those who have applied. Hope your dreams come true!

Did anybody hear back from either S/ACP from Mcgill or SACP from UBC?

I heard SCCP at Ualberta has sent acceptances/waitlist though they haven't sent any rejections, so I am assuming this as a soft rejection.

The admission process is extremely slow, and this is really frustrating not knowing what is going on exactly... :(

Hoping for the best to all of us yet!!

I got my rejection from McGill about a week ago, so if you haven`t heard anything that might be a good sign! For UBC, I got an email today saying I got in, but I haven`t decided if I`m going to accept yet. Hope this helps!

Congratulations on your acceptance!

I also got my acceptance just about couple hours ago from UBC. Are there anything holding you back from accepting the offer?

Congrats on getting in as well!

I got into the MA DPE program at UofT. It's extremely similar to the SCCP program at OISE, but is only research-based. So, if I choose to go this route, I could apply for the SCCP program at OISE again this year, since the MA DPE is only one year. Because of the DPE program, I would also have the connections and experience to have a really good chance of getting into the SCCP program. It depends on whether I want to get into the SCCP program enough to wager an extra year on it. Plus, I'm much closer to Toronto than Vancouver. I'm also unsure of who my supervisor at UBC would be. It makes me nervous when they provide acceptances without providing a potential supervisor because some grad programs will accept more students than spots, expecting people to reject. So, it's a difficult choice to make but hopefully I can make it soon so that I can free up a spot for someone on a waitlist.

Good luck with making your decision! I am sure whatever decision you make will be the best for you :)

Has anyone got any updates from the SCCP program at OISE?

No, but I get the impression that those who have been accepted or wait-listed have already been reached out, especially since interviews were done over a month ago.

First of all, congratulations on getting into those programs! I was just wondering if UBC’s SACP program has given you a specific deadline to make your decision? I also applied to UBC’s SACP program but I didn't even get interviewed so I don't think I’ll get in at this point but I was hoping to get a sense of when they would get back to me.

Also if you feel comfortable doing so would you be able to share your stats as well?

I hope all the best for you :D!

Do you go on the discord page? There's a "Help me decide" sub topic, where people can ask for advice/their thoughts on programs/schools to choose from. I remember someone asking a similar question about whether to accept a clinical psych or school psych program. So maybe you can also ask your quesiton there. This is the link https://discord.gg/hm327SrA

For me, the deadline they gave me was until April 15th!

The interview invites were sent out right before February with the schedule of either March 3rd or 4th.

Hope this helps!

Thank you! Yeah, the deadline they gave us was April 15. I assume this is the same for everyone who has received an offer. I have no idea how each school operates, but I know some will wait until almost all the spots are filled before sending out rejections. I'm still waiting on a rejection myself.

I can definitely share some stats though! My CGPA at the time of application was 7.6/9.0 (A-/A) and my GPA of my senior-level courses was 8.07/9.0 (A). I didn't end up taking the GRE since it wasn't required this year so I have no stats on that. But in terms of experience, I have been in 2 labs, one of which I'm currently doing an Honours Thesis in. I also have experience using SPSS and R, and my degree is bilingual (English/French), which I assume was somewhat helpful since the program coordinator brought it up during the interview. I also have a lot of experience with children, since I worked as a summer camp counsellor for a school board  for 3 years. While working there I was expected to organise and teach lesson plans myself since the point of the camp was to be a mix of school and camp. So, I taught math, literacy, music and sports to elementary students, some of whom has learning difficulties. I got a pretty good reference letter from the teacher who supervised me at the camp, as well as two from the two labs I was in.

Aside from this, I was told directly that I had a good application, so I assume that the written parts were good as well. Although it was optional, I chose to include a mock research paper as writing sample, which might have helped too. I was also pretty proactive and reached out to my POIs months before the application was due. I exchanged multiple emails with the one who is now my potential supervisor, so it was definitely helpful considering the fact that they recognised me during the interview.

I hope this was helpful! If you want to know more, please ask. Honestly, we're all in this together haha. I wish you the best as well!

Dangg, my Ualberta application is still "Under Review" so if that's the case I am assuming it's a rejection coming my way as well. :( But still good to know so thank you for passing that info along! Hope you hear back from all your programs soon and best of luck!

MSc SACP at UCalgary may not interview. I received an official offer from them in Feb 2020 (with an informal offer via email in January of that same year a few weeks before the official offer came), and they never interviewed me. So…hopefully that provides some people some hope! I’d say it’s def a bit early to hear back from them.

Hello, I would greatly appreciate if you provide your stats, I'm also considering to apply to that program this year

For any undergraduate students looking to apply to clinical/school/counselling psychology, the Canadian Psychological Association has a mentorship program where mentees (undergrads) can connect with current grad students to talk about the application process, interviewing strategies, and their process for getting accepted to grad school (among other things)! Please see this message about the program from CPA below:

"Calling all undergraduate students! We have extended the deadline for mentees to apply to the CPA Student Mentorship Program! Submit your applications by September 5th at 11:59PM EST and don’t miss out on a great opportunity to get involved and learn more about graduate school, career paths, and more! Find out how to apply at cpa.ca/students/mentorship/. If you have any questions or want to send in your application, contact the program coordinator at chairelect.cpastudentsection@gmail.com."

Hey guys! I'm a bit concerned about the SACP program at UBC. Were the application instructions/checklist confusing to anyone else? When I submitted my application, I followed all the instructions and even emailed someone to make sure I didn't need to include a Statement of Intent, especially since the instructions literally said not to. It wasn't marked as mandatory on the application either, since the mandatory questions already covered what would have been on an SoI anyways. I was going through my emails from UBC recently, and I realised I misread the one they sent right after I had submitted. It listed SoI as one of the required documents to complete my application, which I did not upload, as I was following instructions. Now I'm very confused and panicking a bit. I've contacted who I can and I'm hoping that this won't mark my application as incomplete. I was wondering if anyone else is having a similar experience? Also, if anyone has heard about interviews yet or if your submission status has changed at all, as mine just says "submitted".

Hi there! I know I am extremely late to this thread but I am currently in the process of prepping for my application to the SACP program at UBC and I do agree that the instructions and prerequisite checklist are quite confusing. I was wondering if you ended up getting into the program?

Does anyone have any tips for the UBC SACP interview?

Would love to know (if anyone is still active on here) what the UBC interview is like!
