Got into Union today, but the acceptance letter didn't mention anything about financial or merit aid. Do y'all know if that comes separately or if I'm just out of luck?

Congrats! Looked back on past forums and it looks like they normally don't release financial and merit with admissions decisions.

Thank you! Yep, just got the letter an hour or so ago. The aid isn't great, lol... but that's what I've gathered from these forum posts in the past so... yeah. Options, though! And it's a cool school.

I got into Union on Friday too, I think I got more aid than I expected to but I'm waiting to see what other options I have. But, Union is really cool school! Congrats!

Vanderbilt posted decisions, it seems. Got in with a nice scholarship which is exciting! Though I can't tell whether it covers housing as both the letter and website page on tuition costs are vague.

Where did you see any financial aid information? I got in, too, and it said something about financial aid, but it didn't say specifics.

Congrats on getting in! And it told me that in the body of the letter; specifically that I was awarded a Divinity Merit Tuition Scholarship that covers 80% of tuition. But it's unclear what that actually covers.

You applied for MDiv there, right? I wonder if MTS specifies later? It just says "scholarship support is also available to you." I'm not sure what that means.

Also, congrats to you, too! Sorry, I'm a little out of it and confused by the wording right now haha.

Nope, I was MTS! Though I’m sure if you contact them asking more about the aid process they could help…? I’m confused too. This whole process is quite enigmatic…

I'm confused because the letter seems to imply I was offered a scholarship/financial aid package, but there's no specification.

Here is exactly what it said: "Scholarship support is also available to you for up to summer term(s) when you register for three (3) or more credit hours. Please be aware that should you elect to change your degree program or your enrollment status as a student, your financial aid package may be affected and should be discussed in consultation with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs."

I got in as well with a nice scholarship. The scholarship details are in my second paragraph. It mentions the summer information a little further down on my letter.

The wording is a little different. I can't tell if the valued amount of my scholarship includes summer or not.

Any idea whether the scholarship covers housing? The Vanderbilt "tuition and fees" page is kind of confusing to me -- it seems the merit covers about $30k a year, tuition seems to be about $20k/yr, so like... am I adding this up wrong, or does that just leave $10,000 for housing for the year?

From what you said, it seems like your offer was an 80% tuition scholarship, which means it would cover 80% of tuition.

Yeah that's why I'm confused -- the tuition cost seems to be less than what I was offered in aid. I've found sometimes (though maybe I'm just misremembering) schools mean "tuition + housing" for "tuition"... but I dunno. We'll see. Might email.

Did you get a separate aid email with an exact amount or just the 80% tuition statement? From my understanding, it would be tuition minus 80% to calculate what is left to pay. Housing is a separate thing.

Honestly, I just checked the portal this morning because I was feeling anxious-and-bored and saw the notification. Didn't get an email for either of them but I imagine they will both be sent out today...?

No, I'm asking if you got two separate letters or just one.
