I'm really praying. Last year the results were announced March 22nd. So we got a bit a way to go before we know.

Hoping for the best since this is the last official year they are awarding fellowships!

I know! March 22nd is like years away! I was hoping that talking about it on a forum would make the time go by faster: we can at least commiserate together.

When I emailed the application contact back in December, I was told that they cannot guarantee that awards will be given in 2024. I am hoping for the best, but "limited" is not a promising word anyways since only 75 predoctoral awards are given to 1900 applicants each year.

do you know where to find a similar timeline for the humanities apps?

I tried to search for humanities review panel, but I couldn't find anything. I'll keep looking and will post it here if I find anything.

this is completely speculative, but the application portal says we will be notified in April ?. do you think this is because of the influx of apps this cycle or is it just to cover their basis?

They received about 2800 applications this year across all levels, which is largely similar to recent previous years. From past threads, April appears to be a soft deadline that they use to be on the safe side, but a lot of people seem to hear about their results in March.

Honestly, I do not plan on worrying about it too much. Although I might start periodically check in mid-March when my anxiety increases ten-fold!

Oh dear, this is starting to feel like when I was applying to grad school! Lol. I checked the Ford website, for no reason really. But I'm getting into that weird head space where you check in on the portal randomly, knowing there will be no info there.

So, I have an idea... To help with our anxiety and potential rejection during this process, do you guys want to list some songs that you use to motivate yourself during/after a bad day, etc.? For example, I will go with "Gotta Keep Your Head Up" (Andy Grammer) and "Our World"(CAMPFIRE).

What songs help you guys stay positive? Feel free to add more!

That's my girl, Fifth Harmony, lol

The song helps me keep going despite the results. I think that applying for fellowships is a grand feat in itself. We should all be proud of completing our application, despite the results.

I will check it out! Always good to have that mindset, even if it is hard to realize that in the moment.

Quick question: I recently received a FLAS Summer fellowship this month, is it worth adding to my honors and awards section this late into the app?

It probably wont make a difference. From my understanding the decisions have already been made (panels convened about decisions a few weeks ago). We are now just waiting for the results to be posted next week.

I think they convened today and yesterday. Individual reviews were completed weeks ago.

Do you know what sociology is under? When I check the site, I don't see a panel for sociology or other social sciences.

Sadly, I am not sure, but I do not think the timeline would be any different than the other panels.
