Tufnel
I still haven't heard one way or the other from WashU. Anyone else in limbo? I feel like I'm being kept in a "just in case" pile or something. Either that or my file fell in-between the printer and Professor Schofield's desk. RWBG
I still haven't heard one way or the other from WashU. Anyone else in limbo? I feel like I'm being kept in a "just in case" pile or something. Either that or my file fell in-between the printer and Professor Schofield's desk. It looks like they sent out rejections and waitlists by mail, according to the results page. I also haven't received anything yet, and I'm just assuming it's still in the mail. Edit: I should also mention, I e-mailed Rachel Davis to ask whether she could confirm I was rejected, and she told me decision letters were mailed out, and that I should contact her if I didn't receive one in a few weeks. That was a little over a week ago. Edited February 15, 2011 by RWBG
explodingstressball
In another nerve-wracking step, I just submitted two papers of mine for publication in journals. We'll see how that goes! Count de Monet and JanuaryHymn 1
Count de Monet
Dear Applicant, You suck. Go away. Sincerely, UCLA I wish I could respond with: Dear UCLA, The feeling is mutual. bugbear
Why not just send out all the rejections at the same time? If I don't get rejected tonight, and then get the rejection email tomorrow night instead, I will scream. JUST REJECT ME ALREADY, I KNOW YOU WANT TO. *crazy eyes*
balderdash
Yeah, echoing others, it was certainly not worth the extra 8 days of waiting on Stanford just to get rejected in the end. I'm hoping the same doesn't happen for Chicago...

I'm hoping the same doesn't happen for Chicago... I have a feeling that the Stanford model may repeat itself here. Last year, the Chicago acceptances and waitlists came out Feb 10-12. However, the rejections and referrals to their one-year MA programs were sent by email only on March 3. I am definitely in "chicago limbo". A disappointment for me, although I am grateful to be admitted with funding to one program. Edited February 15, 2011 by wannabee

Polly_Sigh
Any word on NYU? I haven't heard anything.... I can say that as an American who has all international degrees (the UK), the application date for one of my schools was a month earlier than 'domestic' students. Unless you've had your degrees 'translated' (though something like World Education Service), I would imagine it might take longer. Have you seen results posted for the schools to which you've applied? Also, has anyone heard anything from NYU? If I haven't heard by tomorrow morning I think I'm going to call. The 15th is definitely "mid-February".
LondonTown
Any word on NYU? I haven't heard anything.... I haven't heard anything from NYU either. Hi all, I'm new here. Done all my education thus far in the UK. All the PhD apps I made are in the US and under 'International Applicants Notes' all the deadlines were the same for us as they were for domestic applicants. I've heard nothing from my 8 universities so far, but I hope I get something soon (even if it's bad news!) because I am getting dangerously addicted to my blackberry, and I may well get fired soon for being so distracted. Good luck to all! I'm not sure if it's the right place, but would whoever posted the political economy and government from HKS feel up to talking about how they were informed? Good luck to you all. We'll be through the tunnel soon.
Polly_Sigh
I feel the same way! It's impossible to focus on work right now... I'm trying, but the refresh button on my browser is just so enticing! I applied to 7 schools and havn't heard anything form any of them... None of them do interviews and from the Results board it doesn't appear that any have released results, so I know I just need to chill. I haven't heard anything from NYU either. Hi all, I'm new here. LondonTown
Indeed, I too am a mess - I've worn down the fingerprint on my right index finger from clicking refresh one too many times, I'm drinking way too much caffeine, destroying my bladder and am constantly on edge. They need to tell me for my own health! =)

CreanhouseEffect
Dinged at OSU..online application status check informed.that my application is not approved. OTL. it is better not to hear anything. Sorry, civil war. Not that it matters, but I always thought the way they refer to themselves as THE Ohio State University was, well, tremendously douchey. If you get into the school of your choice, you could always pretend to stick it to them by holding a LeBron-esque "Decision" right here on the forums. Rose
Not to reopen wounds, but any of the folks who got dinged by UCLA this morning: did your status change in the online system as well? I see some responses in the results page that say the email directed you to the website, and some don't specify. Maybe they got tired at midnight and will continue when they open at 9 or 9.30? LondonTown
On another note, is there any general consensus on roughly what time these emails tend to come out? I'm thinking East Coast am means my window of worry should only start from 2pm GMT and finish up at around 10pm. Oh dear.

You have to check here (https://www.gradadmissions.ucla.edu/newapp/Login.asp?topage=AdmissionStatus.asp) to see if you too are the recipient of a lovely rejection letter that is most certainly not worth the money I paid to apply to this school. I think the quality of the rejection letter should be directly related to the admission fee; ie, if I paid $100 or more to apply to your school you'd better write me a letter that says I'm too awesome for your school or else... yeah, I have no lever on this. Or else nothing. I could dispute the charge with my credit card company, I guess.
