Hi guys ! Has anyone heard anything from u of chicago yet ? I heard that they have already sent out interview invitations and I have not received anything yet. I'm guessing I have been informally rejected already? The official reply was the decisions will be made in the first week of March. so all I can do is to wait for one more week.. But I guess what I am waiting for is probably just a formal rejection email ? :(

How'd you find out they already sent invites, the results page seems to not have any...?

Hi :) because I sent an inquiry email regarding my status to a staff in the psychology department on Feb 15. and this is what she said and I quote:

Dear SupernovaOptical,

The University will send out decision letters the first week of March. Those students who were invited to interview in psychology have already been notified. It was an extremely competitive applicant pool this year.

Thank you for your interest in the University of Chicago.

Best,

XXX

Since I have not got anything yet, I assume that I might have been rejected informally.

I felt like I was dead but the final autopsy report about the confirmation of my unfortunate death and the COD will not be sent out until March ?! :(

I am trying to remain positive and hoping there's miracle...I was extremely stressed and driving everyone else around me crazy and I felt really bad n guilty about it. I have to say, majoring in psychology does not make me become capable of coping with all this at all and I felt ashamed. I failed at regulating my own emotions ...this is so ironic.

Just received an official rejection from CU-Boulder. Other updates:

UCSD: Visited/Interviewed a couple weeks ago. I know one person received an offer, so I'm assuming I'm not one of their first choices.

KU: Accepted.

Indiana: Visited/Interviewed last weekend. No updates since.

UVa: Still wait listed. No updates.

Haven't heard from: U Chicago, Yale, Cornell, UNC, NYU.

Just received an official rejection from Brown. Sad day.

I am still looking for updates from USC and Cornell. Anyone have any information about either of these programs?

That sucks about Brown...grad secretary at USC says there's no news yet.

I just got wait-listed at KU. Letter said they had offered admission to nine applicants. I wonder how many are waitlisted. I saw a few peeps with admission offers for KU. To anyone who got an admit, are you planning on taking it, or are you holding out for another offer?

I interviewed at Tucson last weekend. Really hoping to hear back from them soon!

I'm going to hold off on making a decision until I hear back from some other schools. I want to make sure I've got as much information as possible before I decide. Good luck with Arizona!

Thanks! My interests are still pretty broad....but I'm into embodiment, metaphors, psychological distancing, perspective taking, altruism...

Does anyone have any kind of information about the social psych department at U of Minnesota? and / or SUNY at Buffalo? Rochester maybe?

I really want to hear something - because I didn't get any solid response from any of the departments which I applied for....

Thank you guys :)

Update from Cornell.

Cornell has already held its visiting weekend. The admissions committee for the social track is currently deciding to which two students to extend offers. Decisions are expected to be made by Friday, and the decisions will be forwarded to the graduate school soon after. This means we should be expecting rejections sometime soon. (Perhaps there is a slim chance that some people might remain on a waitlist -- either an official or unofficial waitlist -- but for the vast majority of us, we should be expecting the rejection letter.)

Still waiting on updates from USC!

Rochester's interview weekend was a few weeks ago, and decisions should be going out sometime next week

Right after I wrote this, I checked my email and found a rejection letter from Yale. Only 3 more to go.

Good luck to the rest of you.

Any news from Yale, UMass Amherst, UCSB, and ut Austin? Some one mentioned Yale is still deliberating... Anything else? Thanks in advance.

The wait is slowly killing me inside :(

To the UCSC rejectee who knew their POI wasn't taking new students --- can you say who your POI is?

I'm just curious because I've applied there a total of four times, to work with the same POI. I get the hint--they're just not that into me. However, instead of a generic electronic letter, I think I should get some small plaque though for ongoing support of the psychology department. :)

Sorry, I just read this. This is not true. They are interviewing 9 people for the social psych program and taking 3 people. Recruitment/Interviews will be March 21st.

Penn State accepts straight up, no interviews. I believe their visiting weekend last year was one of the last, around the beginning or middle of March. Hopefully that gives you some sense of comfort.

Ah, my mistake. Now that I think about it, that was true for last year as well. When we visited, there were 2 accepts, 2 waitlisted when I visited.

They could have switched to a full interview setup.
