For their PhD or MA program? I applied to the MA!

Applied to their MA too! Did you happen to hear anything, positive or negative experiences, about the program? I just know that they are fully funded so I applied, but was hoping to find some more information about it. Like where their MA students usually end up in terms of PhD programs or how reputable it is? But having a hard time finding info about Tulane from the forums.

Hi I wonder has anyone applied to UCLA? Good Luck to everyone!

Hi there, another UCLA applicant here - have you heard anything from them yet?

Fingers crossed!

I've personally gotten the impression that Tulane is very reputable, especially in terms of Latin American art history. My professors recommended the program to me when I told them I wanted to specialize in contemporary Latin American. On the program's FAQ they claim to not keep stats on where their students go, but say they've had graduates get into PhD programs at Princeton, UCLA, UC Berkley, Yale, UT Austin, etc.--in reputation those are comparable to what UMass Amherst lists, and that's a program I've heard many people say is great for PhD preparation. I haven't spoken to any current Tulane students or alumni though, so that's all the info I have!

Has anyone heard anything fron Princeton’s Art and Archaeology? Do you know what their rhytm is like? When do they usually send interview invites and decisions?

I was wondering the same thing. Haven't heard anything yet from them either.

Got interviewed by POI in December. Not sure if it's the general practice at Princeton, but in my subfield the interview wasn't with the committee.

Before I applied, I spoke to 2 POIs on Zoom. One of them said that there was no formal interview with a committee—that I would just receive a result. I'm guessing they would set up a chat if there was someone who wanted to talk to you (as with the poster below), but the process didn't seem as formal.

Hi all, late to the "where did everyone apply to" discussion but I applied to PhDs in the UK & US and my area of focus is Surrealism. I applied to IFA at NYU, UMN, University of Oregon, UCL, University of York, and Courtauld.

IFA is my top choice and my research meshes perfectly with the POI's area of specialty, so I feel very hopeful.

Courtauld has kept us informed at every step of the way and been extremely helpful with funding applications — far more than I would've expected to be honest. Decisions are released on the 2nd of February.

Something I'm finding really helpful in keeping my anxiety down personally is seeing if there's a pattern in past years' results. So UMN, for instance, gives answers in the Jan-Feb transition week, but I know not to expect any news until around the 19th of February after that. So I can rest easy.

So far I'm 1A/2I/3P/1R.

Ahh alright! I did have a talk with a POI, but he mentioned they do interviews, at least in this field. What is your subfield, if I may ask?

Hi! Anyone heard from Yale or Columbia yet?

I have gotten interview requests from IFA and CUNY for next week.

One of my friends got an interview with yale for art history but she is an ancient art specialist and I am modern/contemporary. Do they do interviews based on specialty? Should I just accept a rejection at this point or is it worth holding out hope?

Columbia I have heard radio silence from everyone I know who applied.

Hi everyone,

I'm an international student, and I applied to the following universities:

- Temple

- Rice

- Northwestern

- UVA

- Emory

- Yale

- Duke

- Princeton

- Penn State

- UMASS

- Columbia

- Maryland

I applied for master's programs at Penn State and UMASS, while the rest were Ph.D. programs. So far, I've been rejected by one and had interviews with two others. One waitlisted me, and the other hasn't provided any updates since the interview, which is worrying me. My area of focus is early modern art and architecture in Europe.

I haven't heard back from the others yet, and I'm starting to doubt my chances. This year, I planned my entire life around the prospect of being a graduate student abroad, and now I'm facing the possibility of not being accepted anywhere. Just venting my frustration here. Good luck to everyone!

I got an invite to an interview with Yale two days ago - but don't lose heart, it's possible that they stagger them.

I haven't heard anything from Columbia.

It's early modern...but now I'm wondering if I mixed this up with a different school 😅

I'd also applied to Duke... any chance you've heard from them?

I didn't receive anything, but I heard from a student there that they sent invites for the prospect students to get to know the school or something.

Hi I also applied to IFA but didn't receive an interview request. May I ask if it is an individual meeting with POI or with the committee? Thank you!

Invited to Duke last week for their GSS symposium, and know from my POI that the IFA made interview decisions this week with interviews next week.

Accepted to UNC Chapel Hill last week.

Does Harvard do interviews?

You applied to the Institute of Fine Arts? Is that right? I had applied to Art, Art History, and Visual Studies Department.
