I'm in the same Irvine and JHU boat (but my Syracuse ship has sailed). It sounds like Irvine is still real possibility, but JHU is a 'maybe there's a waitlist spot still available' situation at this point.

according to some others, fiction deliberations are ongoing at irvine, but poetry decisions have been made. since some fiction rejections have already gone out, if you're a fiction applicant for uci and haven't heard anything yet, i'd say it's reasonable to be hopeful! i don't have insight into the other schools, unfortunately.

Yeah because for JH if they were sending rejections in alphabetical order I would’ve been one of the first to receive mine.

since it says their decision was from 2/18 and lots of OSU decisions came out that day, I'd bet money they meant OSU

I am also waiting on JHU, Syracuse, and Irvine for fiction. Are you waiting for fiction or poetry?

Anyone else waiting for Virginia Tech? It looks like last year we had notifications as early as Jan 23 and I'm not seeing anything on the spreadsheet for them yet.

their deadline was jan 21 this year. last year, it was earlier.
we might still--i'm hoping--get an update next week.

hello. fellow idiot who has been checking this page for comfort. I got rejected from Vandy and was devastated and then realized I never submitted my official transcripts (only unofficial) and I feel like if a bus hit me today, I would welcome death like an old friend. waiting to hear back from WKU and Arkansas. if I don't get in, I will try again next year and if I don't get in then I will give up entirely. 

if you got into Vandy, please say something because I need to know who got in it will kill me until I know.

You only needed to submit unofficial transcripts. Only accepted students need to submit official transcripts after they have been accepted. I just checked their website again to be sure. So your transcripts had nothing to do with getting rejected (from what I can see).
 

I didn’t apply to Vanderbilt this year because I mostly focused on 2 year programs. But I understand your sadness at a rejection; however, saying this as kindly as I can, knowing who got in won’t help you. This is meant to be an anonymous space so you would only know that some other anonymous person got in. And if you’re feeling so down or at risk of harm, please talk to someone. There are helplines and text lines depending on where you are located. This is not something to take lightly. 
 

Something else to think about: you want to go to a place that knows your worth. If a school doesn’t see that in your application, that is their loss. Prove it by writing anyway, and reapplying next year with even stronger work if you choose.

Hi y'all -- longtime lurker. I just found out that I am on the University of Arizona's long list for fiction and they want to do a call. They said it's not an interview-- Honestly I thought this cycle was a wash so I am surprised and I wonder what my odds are now. So freaked out.
