I did my masters and undergrad there, and it was fantastic. I dont know how much funding there was in general there, but I got basically full tuition scholarships for both. They were fantastic. Are you applying to the PhD? The Ma was competitive but large imho, maybe 30 people. Many of them had applied several times before being admitted. The Phd is quite small, i think they take 2-4 people a year, and in my observation it tended to be at least one legacy candidate per cohort (meaning- heads of theater companies, high up creatives from the MoMa) and a couple of young people doing really interesting research. I dont know the funding policies for the program tho 💔
mtkF26 Posted January 23 Posted January 23 (edited) Hello everybody Similar transparency to the others - I've applied to the following PhDs: Northwestern & UC Berkeley (Performance Studies); Stanford, Brown, & Columbia (TAPS); Cambridge (English). Also additional transparency about stats: I'm American with a BA English (2:1), MA Theatre Criticism (1st), and an MFA Dramaturgy (3.98). My interest is primarily in the intersection of global politics and performance, with a particular focus on devising practices and works that stage violent histories (shout out to Milo Rau). Looks like the first round of rejections for UC Berkeley went out yesterday, but I haven't received anything, so I'm guessing I'm still in the running (fingers crossed). All other apps are crickets, but if each of the programs I listed are following previous patterns, I'm expecting to hear about interviews next week, or rejections the first week of February. He plays into my interests, too, though I'm primarily interested in the way contemporary theatre and performance makers grapple with mediatization through the work of the actor. I also have not heard anything from Berkeley - still "under review".....fingers crossed for us!

rubergjr Posted January 30 Author Posted January 30 just got an acceptance from Georgia. I got that application in right at the deadline (1/15) and didn't have an interview. thank you god all i needed was one yes 😭 still waiting to hear back from everyone else and I'm submitting my UW app tomorrow!

I was doing my random visiting of portals and found out that requests for official transcrips were added 2 days before as well.. and also got final rejection from UCLA! No email came though.. I just found out from the portal
