Both are really great schools. i wanted to apply to UC Boulder because I think Colorado would be lovely but my research interests didn't seem like a clear fit. Chicago would also be really cool. I don't think it hurts to ask! I would (hope and think) that program directors understand that it's a stressful time for applicants and everyone ultimately just wants to start planning. Syracuse when they told me I was waitlisted did not provide much info and even when I asked they just said it could change. They were nice but not every program would tell you. I hope you hear back soon and get the result you want. SocialKonstruct 1

ottessamoshfegh Posted February 23 Posted February 23 On the waitlist for University of Washington!! Told I'm next in line for my field, and they've only accepted 5 students. Really really hoping it works out, UW is my top program.

That's my top choice, and I saw on here that they sent admission decisions out last week for their MA programs. The wait has me anxious! 😩

Nikis Posted February 28 Posted February 28 I’m waitlisted for UTK since early Feb. I think they did send acceptance/ rejections around that time. If you haven’t heard from them, then perhaps they are holding your appl as a back up. That’s a good thing.

They were one of my top choices I've assumed rejection from the places I haven't heard from yet but it's also possible they contacted those who were higher on the waitlist first and have a few others further down. I’ve seen a bunch of rejections/waitlists/acceptances come through this month, but haven’t heard anything myself. Someone said that they received their rejection when they emailed the program directly to ask, but when I did that, I was told responses were still going out, thank you for my patience, etc. It’s getting rather late in the game!

I was a teen mom and put myself through undergrad and my MA with three kids on food stamps (do not come for me). Graduated honors track on time in everything from great schools. I have delivered papers in conferences and published during the second semester of my MA. Which is not to say that I’m any better than anyone who did get in, but that I love this more than anything and sacrificed so much for it. I waited three years to apply to PhDs while my friends went on, so that my kids could finish growing up and not be away from their dad at all, and the whole time I was thinking about the day I’d be able to finally do this. To finally get into it during this nightmare of a cycle has been devastating.
