cquin
Still no word from Duke (Lit program) even though many others have received rejections and interview invites. Could I be waitlisted? I am very, very tempted to call up the department and inquire into my status, but I worry that I'd be committing a serious faux pas. Should I just sit tight and wait for a response? Or is it okay for me to contact admissions?
harpyemma
I'd wait at least another week. I bet they're getting hundreds of calls. There's no harm in waiting.

I was one of the rejects, but mine was English. If a few were in Lit, why don't you find out who the program director is and email. Not as pushy as the phone, but better than sitting around waiting...
tortola23
I've called and emailed departments, but only about materials that appeared to be missing. I would wait when it comes to decisions.

Or is it okay for me to contact admissions? Cquin, I've applied to the Lit program as well. But since the campus-visit invites have been sent out (apparently), I'm guessing that the waitlist, if any will be from among that group. For what it's worth, I've decided to wait this out. Good luck, though!

Good luck, though! Me three! Haven't heard a peep from Duke Lit yet. And, unfortunately, I think weatherwax is right: we're probably rejected, given that the invites to the interview weekend have all gone out. I have a feeling waitlistees will come out of the interview weekend, not the rest of us. Also, on the results page, all the rejections are from English, so I'm guessing they're just taking their time sending out the Lit rejections.... I'm not going to contact them either; I don't want to rush them because I'm sure they have a lot going on. Who am I to demand my (already implicit) rejection notification before everyone else? That said, good luck to us all anyway!
You!Machine.
I think standard procedure is that they admit and name their waitlist from invited candidates. Looks like bad news for those of us who haven't yet heard anything It is a bit silly to not let us know our fate already though... Edited February 11, 2011 by You!Machine. cquin
Ah, I figured that might be the case, but I was really hoping that the lot of us who didn't receive an interview might still be considered for the waitlist.
