Just some information (maybe bad news to some of you guys)

I just called UCLA asking for my admission status and I was told that I am unofficially rejected. Very disappointed as I think my interest on comparative politics really fit with the department there. This means that those who do not get the call, might be in the same boat as me.

On the bright side, there is more to life than grad school.

I got some interesting news for theory people today. Has nothing to do with admissions directly, but thought some of you might want to know these things. Pat Deneen is leaving Gtown for ND. His blog post about it is here. As far as I am concerned, this changes the look of the theory program substantially. While his blog post only confirms what I have heard about the department, I thought I was safe applying there with him on the faculty. :(

Also, Duke is, apparently, restructuring theory to be some form of theory and public policy or something of that nature. That doesn't affect me much, but it might affect those who want to focus more on the history of political theory.

Looks like Stanford's sending out acceptances!

Edit: From the results forum. I did not receive one.

I won't be able to sleep tonight if this is the case. AHHHHH I just want to know.

My guess is we hear from Michigan, Rochester, Duke, Stanford, and UCLA by the end of next week. Anyone else want to place bets?

3/5 so far!

Yeah, crazy. It's a phone call, which isn't really their MO. I'd guess the emails come tomorrow.

I was pretty shocked when I read Prof. Deneen's post a few days ago on Front Porch Republic. His departure probably means that I am an auto-reject at Georgetown, yet the post pretty much convinced me that GTown wasn't right for me anyway.

ND has cemented its place at the top of my list. I just hope that I have a chance and that we hear something soon.

It looks like ND will be next week (around the 7th). I wish I had known about Deneen leaving sooner. There was no reason for me to apply without him there.

ND is also one of my favorites, but I didn't apply for theory there. I think that would have been suicide.

Gah. Can it all be over. I just want to know what my options are/if I'll have options.

So the results survey shows a bunch of acceptances tonight... if I didn't recieve an email does that mean I can be fairly certain I didn't get in? Or do they continue to send out acceptances over the next few days/weeks/months?

For which schools?

What was your subfield at ND? Mine was Constitutional Studies, but Theory would be my secondary.

GTown was by far the most expensive of my options, so knocking it off doesn't hurt too bad (now that Deneen is gone).

Same. Sigh, I'll try to be happy if you get in and I don't.

But really. :(

Hey guys. I'm not a poli sci person, but my spouse is. He's waiting on Duke still-- are acceptances still going out?

Is your spouse applying to ND for theory or constitutional studies?

Theory. And ND is his top choice, but not mine. So we'll see how that goes. ND's poli sci department is phenomenal. He was waitlisted last year. And he did not apply to Baylor, although their department is great in its own right. Corey, Allman, and Nichols especially so. My husband wants to work with Catherine Zuckert, among others.

Seen someone got acceptance to UNC via website. I checked my application but there is nothing there. Has anyone checked theirs?

Oops, sorry.... for UCLA

The way I'm playing it is: no email by end of business (LA time) on Friday, no offer.

Also, anyone claiming the Stanford?
