Congrats!!! I know the feeling; felt the same way after Wisconsin.

Also, is it just me, or is the gradcafe server not built to handle mid-February? :P

Yeah, it gets crazy! I imagine that I'm in "refresh" wars with invisible people...trying to hit it faster than they can...

But then the board is still far slower than I imagined it would be. :P

Thank you! I was the one that posted -- heard back on Friday, February 3rd. I am not sure where they are at in terms of admissions decision, but I am speaking to someone from there tomorrow and can poke around a bit. Good luck!

Thanks, L119. Very generous of you to offer to putter around. Good luck to you too!

Hi, everyone!

First time poster, long time lurker. I posted today's Columbia acceptance -- got an email from POI earlier to let me know that I had been accepted with fellowship (details forthcoming). I am also in at Stanford, Michigan and Berkeley's Jurisprudence and Social Policy program so far, with concentrations in political philosophy/legal theory/public law.

Good luck to everyone still waiting, and I'd love to be in touch with anyone planning to attend admitted students events at any of the schools mentioned above!

Congrats!! What an impressive roster, lol. So I am guessing you are a theorist?

Congrats to those accepted by Cornell! I'm still waiting to hear from them...

You're a theory person, correct? If so, what kind of theory do you focus on? And who was your POI at Cornell?

Can anyone tell me what Cornell's general reputation in the field is, and in particular their reputation for theory?

It's my impression that theory is Cornell's strongest subfield (except maybe comparative-Sidney Tarrow). Cornell is a great place and they place very well.

Everyone knows Cornell's strongest field is their A Cappella groups. However, doesn't get much better than Tarrow!

I would argue that for a constructivist approach to IR, Cornell ranks as one of the best schools as well (P. Katzenstein & Evangelista).

Actually comparative/IR are Cornell's strengths (Cornell is a great place to study theory, but comparative and IR dominate). Tarrow is emeritus; he doesn't advise anymore.

Well, Cornell makes US News's list for the Theory subfield at #17, for Comparative at #11 and for IR at #13 (obviously rankings aren't everything but they give you an idea) & I've heard nice things about them from professors. I'll PM you the info on my research interests & POI.

The drought has ended!

Cornell acceptance. Pretty dauntingly exciting to know that I'll be in the US within half a year.

Congratulations, CooCooCachoo. I would assume that you will have more options by the end of the cycle, but I know what a relief it is to receive that first acceptance.

Also - congrats are in order for those who have claimed acceptances to UG, UVa, Columbia, Cornell, Conneticut, Arizona, WUSTL, Binghamton, and Kentucky. It is fulfulling to see so many people from this forum receive good news.

Congrats to everyone that has gotten accepted somewhere! I hope to hear back from my programs soon! (Still haven't heard a thing.)

Then I can join in the celebrations. =)

I am indeed! Yourself?

I am expecting NU to release more notifications tomorrow or the next day. I hope for tomorrow. :)

Edited because I am spelling impaired.

Ooh, are you basing this expectation on something? I hope you're right.

Yes, I am. While my hopes might not be grounded on much, my expectations usually are. :) More seriously, I spoke with the Ms. Syskowski last Friday. She indicated that notifications should be sent out by this Friday. So, there is reason to hope, it seems.

Yay! Thanks so much for sharing this.
