convex
That is a very short and high quality list, fenderpete. You must be either be sufficiently awesome or sufficiently risk acceptant.
fenderpete
That is a very short and high quality list, fenderpete. You must be either be sufficiently awesome or sufficiently risk acceptant. Sufficiently poor. At around $100 a pop I couldn't afford to apply to more than five programs by the time I paid for the GRE and everything else. Being in the middle of undergrad also meant I probably couldn't have physically filled in any more apps. I applied where I'd want to go. I'm not confident at all but I'm hoping my life experience will count for something. If not I'll work in the field for a year, retake the gre and apply again. Plenty of people have better stats than me but I'm hoping my experience shows I'm serious. Tbh I'm worried enough about my likelihood of getting in without other people slating my chances. convex
As someone who was not particularly successful applying as an undergrad, I hope you fare better than I did.
Wesson
Well, even if the others don't work out, you have Penn as a safety school.
expatbayern
A couple of years ago (basically straight out of undergrad), I applied to just four places (all top 5-10) because I wasn't able to take the time to really figure out where I wanted to go, what I wanted to do, etc. Didn't get in anywhere, but referred to CIR at Chicago, did that, and this time around I think I'm a lot stronger candidate in terms of knowing what I want to study and picking programs where I could successfully do that. convex
I had a pretty similar experience. I'm actually quite glad it worked out this way, because I think I'll do better in the job market now than if I had done better in the admissions cycle the first time around. catchermiscount
OK, you clowns - I am full of piss and vinegar in the afterglow of my Steelers' dynamic performance. Time to put our money where our mouths are. Which school notifies next, and when? I bet UNC this afternoon.
plisar
I go with CoachJRC -- by the time this afternoon is over, we will know much more about UNC.
twright
UVA should be this week ... I'm hoping it's today because I need to hear something from one of my schools before I go crazy!!!!
convex
I think some people will be rejected from UCLA this afternoon.

convex
poliscijobrumors confirms. Not 100% reliable information, but it seems about that time anyway. Plus, the last three posts were speculation about today, and I am susceptible to peer pressure.

PollyTheory
I call bullshit. I'm definitely getting rejected from Duke and I haven't gotten an email yet
plisar
Don't expect the e-mail, do like those of us who are obsessive and just log in and out of the site all day. IF they are making decisions, the site will change throughout the day as they individually assign decisions. This is not a short process, so people will hear earlier than others. So far, so good. PollyTheory
Sorry to be a moron, but what "site"? Do I just log on to my application at ApplyYourself and look for a link or is there some other "status" site that I'm not aware of? Thanks. We're all in this stupid, masochistic mess together... natofone
I just checked the Duke website and my rejection letter is also up. Did you check this website? Was it on the first page after you log in? https://app.applyyourself.com/?id=DUKEGRAD

Applyyourself apparently changes when it is ready to alert your for news. If you login to your applyyourself account it will either say "A decision has been rendered on your application" or something like that, or "Submitted". From the sounds of things, "submitted" is the better status at the moment.
convex
I put the details up on the results search, but chances are if you logged into the application and still don't know what I'm talking about then you are not rejected yet.

plisar
Surprises abound! Nobody predicted Duke would put out a flyer this week. To be fair, we were talking about acceptances, not rejections Who wants to speculate about rejections!? Depressing!
