wintergirl Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 This is ridiculously preemptive since I still have applications to finish (some due the 15th, the rest at the end of the month), but I'm already anxious about what happens next. I know that in the general board threads for applications, people are talking about interviews, etc. Does that happen for Lit programs as well? If so, when? These next few months are going to be hellish, aren't they. :|
Timshel Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 The only school that I know of that still does interviews is Emory.

lolopixie Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Yea, there really aren't many programs that do interviews anymore. I know for sure Emory still does, as Timshel stated. January will be pretty straight because there aren't a lot of schools sending out decisions. Now come February....ugh. You will be obsessively checking this board to see if anyone has posted an acceptance, checking your email, phones, websites...it gets pretty gnarly.
darjeelingtea16 Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 Notre Dame's PhD in Lit program supposedly also does interviews.
Mistral Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 You could make a list of the estimated times you will hear back from schools based on last year's results (so you have an idea of when to really start panicking... )
Grunty DaGnome Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 (edited) You could make a list of the estimated times you will hear back from schools based on last year's results (so you have an idea of when to really start panicking... ) A list is unnecessary. For this, they have created the Grad Cafe results board, which we will all be checking 10 times daily, starting in January Edited December 10, 2011 by Grunty DaGnome litjust 1

A calendar layout might be even better.
Grunty DaGnome Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 Not type A; type Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
Mistral Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 I haven't made a list or calendar..... yet. Just thought about it. By the middle of January, I will probably have all of the estimated result dates memorized anyway...

Or at least I know based on a ballpark (like, middle of February, 18th-20th of Feb, that kind of stuff).
Grunty DaGnome Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Just don't anyone have a heart attack in January when you start to get routine application status emails from all your top programs!
