isol3 Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Anyone apply to Chicago? Care to share your specific interests? Chicago has a great Program in Poetry and Poetics which I'm attracted to.
marlowe23 Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 I thought about applying, but decided against it at the last minute; it wasn't a good fit. However, I did eat lunch with Bradin Cormack at an academic conference and he was very warm, funny, and inviting. He's in Renaissance, but I'm sure he's not the only member of the department that's that way!

marlowe Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 My bad. I just think he's really sexy... It's cool; I don't really think about him that way.
perrykm2 Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 UChicago? I was going to apply, had my app mostly done, my references submitted, etc., etc. I ended up backing out at the last minute because I didn't want to pay the fee and have heard all the jokes, "thank you for your donation to the University of Chicago."
perrykm2 Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 SUCH a nice school, though, and a fun area/campus. Even if it is a rough neighborhood.
ecritdansleau Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 (edited) UChicago? That's funny; the application fee for Chicago, at $65, was actually the lowest fee of all my applications (which seemed interesting to me because it was the only private university I applied to with a fee below $80-100). Private or public though, they all received my donations . Oh well. Edited January 15, 2012 by ecritdansleau wreckofthehope, LLajax and Pynchonette 3

perrykm2 Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 OSU was $40 AND the offered a fee waiver. It blew my mind.
Timshel Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 OSU was $40 AND the offered a fee waiver. It blew my mind. A couple of the schools I applied to offered fee waivers, but I didn't even look into it. Maybe I should have.....
isol3 Posted January 18, 2012 Author Posted January 18, 2012 I heard a few days ago that they've started reviewing applications. ahembree 1
0000000000AAA Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 That's horrifying. And I guess exciting.

vordhosbntwin Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 i applied to the comp lit program at u of c, and for whatever reason, my fee was waived.
isol3 Posted February 3, 2012 Author Posted February 3, 2012 Is Chicago (English) done with their decisions?
hanoverkontent Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 I also saw the results posting. It seems early, however- past acceptances seem to have gone out in mid- March. Can anyone claim that post?
anewersevres Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 the post was me! I just got an email a little over an hour ago, and there was no change on my online application page. So I wouldn't necessarily give up hope. ahembree 1

ahembree Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Is it just me or are many schools notifying earlier this year? Not a trend I'm complaining about, obviously. Congrats! isol3 1

ophelia9 Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 So it looks like there are 3 acceptances on the board? Ahh, I wish they would send rejections today too, just so I could stop checking my phone every five seconds. Has anyone's online status changed yet? isol3 1
