I'm about to break the refresh button on gmail...

I just want to rip off the bandaid that is this rejection email.

To prepare yourself for ripping off the bandaid SocialGroovements, CUNY doesn't give enough to really live off in New York. I know someone in the program and they can't even afford an shared apartment.

Thanks quant, that does soften the blow. I suppose NYU and Columbia give better funding packages, right?

Oh, and mind sharing your stats and interests?

Mind if I wait to till after the phone call? don't want to jinx myself! And I'm not even superstitious but this process is bringing out the most paranoid person haha. I didn't even post on the forums until today even though I've been following them for weeks.

Thanks for your kind words and (hopeful) congrats! (NERVOUS)

@socquantgenderdemog Hmm... let's take two days to set up a phone call to discuss status of your application. Phone call lasts 5 seconds, only words spoken: "Sorry, we've rejected you." Now on the next scheduled phone call - RELAX... I'm almost 99% sure its an acceptance.. breathe!!!! And an early CONGRATS!!! I'm sure its only great news. If it was a real make or break it interview, they would do you the courtesy to tell you and not get your hopes up.

@Supernovasky

I noticed you added UC-Denver. I would highly reccomend UC-Colorado Springs. I am currently finishing my Masters there and it has been a great experience. There are some really amazing professors here and if you enjoy the outdoors, Colorado Springs is as good as it gets.

CS had an earlier deadline, unfortunately :(

Last week I really thought that this would be a windfall week in terms of results, but now it seems that I was incorrect...at least in regards to UW. I'm going to let myself believe that perhaps they are waiting until tomorrow so that they don't have to field a lot of "but WHY am I not in?" phone calls until people have had time to process it over the weekend. Wishful thinking? Perhaps, but refreshing my email 9 million times a day doesn't leave much time for me to actually get things done. :)

There's been about 4 or 5 people that have already received acceptances this season. Maybe we're just all in the rejection pile? :(

I spoke to Liz last week and it sounded like they were still firming up the accept/wait lists. I'd called to see when rejections were going out so that we maybe would have an idea as to when we'll be put out of our misery. She did say they are running about two weeks ahead of schedule compared to last year, so if we go by last year's rejections, we may know something next week if it is bad news. In 2010-2011 they made offers to 36 people, so I'm holding out hope that those four acceptances on the results search aren't some kind of death knell for the rest of us.

Oh okay, cool. That's a lot of people they sent invites to. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for one but am not holding my breath.

Hi all! Yes, I am very surprised that there has been a lot of silence from a majority of my schools!

Today I had my phone call with Penn State to discuss the "status of my application" and it was an acceptance! So excited!

Also, SO interested to hear something from the other five schools I applied to though.

Waiting: Brown, UPenn, UWashington, Johns Hopkins, UMaryland

Accepted: Penn State, UCI

Congrats!

I'm waiting to hear back from Johns Hopkins too. However, it doesn't seem like many people from here applied there. From looking at previous years, I believe we will start to hear back from them in a couple of weeks

What's higher on the list for you, UWashington, or Penn State? >:)
