Dreams
I still have yet to find a fellowship as generous as JKC. I applied before, but was not successful. I love the new rule change that allows applicants to pursue a degree at ANY university.
ohheygradschool
I was so close to applying - only a few days away from my school's internal deadline - but then I got offered full funding at my top choice. So, happily, I didn't apply. Good luck though. JKC is a great program.
Inspekt
I just submitted my app for this. We had to submit early for a university wide competition for the nomination. I should know in 2 weeks if I am selected.
Inspekt
Did anyone else wind up applying for this? I put my app into the national pool earlier this week.

areese07
I applied for JKC...however, I received full funding+stipend from the university I will be attending, so I guess that means I wont be competitive. I was looking at the past recipients' bios, and it is very hard for me to think that none of those people got offered full funding! ....so I dont know about that clause that says if you have full funding u will not be competitive. younglions
I also received a pretty generous stipend, so I don't know how competitive I will be either. Did everybody receive the award letter status check that was sent out today?

younglions
It seems like they do send it out to everyone. I heard from one other member of this board, and s/he received it too.
rach5698
What is this award status letter that everyone got? I applied and didn't get anything on May 8th?
rach5698
I just got a message from this board from someone about receiving an email from the foundation on May 8th. I never received any such email but I had already faxed my acceptance letter and financial aid award letter to them in April so I'm assuming that's why! Thanks for responding! younglions
Received an e-mail today stating that I wasn't selected. Overall, I'm not too disappointed since I am already fully funded. I hope some of you receive better news!
Inspekt
I got the same letter too, and I am also fully funded. I was snooping on their website and I also talked to our faculty representative. It seems like if you are fully funded you aren't very competitive for this award since you must have some demonstrated financial need. It also hurts if you are currently employed since that can bring down your need.
