mximedc Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 I have the same concern about the MPA DP.. I understand that they go through a different adm.com - different from the regular MPA MIA admissions committee at SIPA. I am guessing that the MPA DP results should go out around or after the 14th. Would love to know an exact, more accurate date!!!!

dcenergygirl Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 So - bit of a crazy thing - I noticed an Assistant Dean from SIPA looked at my LinkedIn profile. Is that part of the regular admissions process?
eigenvector Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 So - bit of a crazy thing - I noticed an Assistant Dean from SIPA looked at my LinkedIn profile. Is that part of the regular admissions process? Wow.... that's some serious due diligence !
Raayah Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 its almost the 14th in my part of the world... SCARY!!
hudwa Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 So - bit of a crazy thing - I noticed an Assistant Dean from SIPA looked at my LinkedIn profile. Is that part of the regular admissions process? Same here. I (unknowingly) invited him to be my contact since we excahnged emails on an international program. He accepted and checked out my profile. Let's hope that's a good thing for us!
Waiting13 Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 So are we thinking e-mails today? It's the 14th!!
Luleanchu Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Is there anyone who can tell me how can I check status via website? I didn't find online~thanks!
mximedc Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 So according to the blog, regular MPA and MIA decisions will be released today. Does anyone happen to know if this includes applications for the MPA on Development practice (MPA-DP)?
Raayah Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 there are some discussions happening on this other thread
HDPFDan Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Resuscitating this thread to see if anyone is still waiting on the waitlist, for the MIA or other. They said they'd start reviewing it in April so technically they are not late, but I was certainly hoping to hear that they have at laest made some waitlist decisions by now (in my decision letter they said that they inform all waitlisted applicants whenver they make decisions, to ask if they'd liek to remain on the list.)
nossessell Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Hi. I'm on the SIPA MIA wait list too. But I haven't heard from the admissions office since March. So frustrating since I'm an international student.
IRbkk Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 Hi Guys, New to this. I was recently accepted to SAIS Bologna but rejected from the IDEV program which is my area of interest. I find myself leaning towards the program at SIPA and I am quite eager to find out regarding the waitlist. I would much rather prefer to go to SIPA as Columbia is more well known in South East Asia where I plan on working after graduation. From my research, although the SAIS program might be regarded as highly prestigious in the US. It is not as well known in Asia in EU. I Would love to hear your thoughts. I am extremely eager to get off the waitlist at SIPA. A yes or a no would save dozens of sleepless nights. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Accepted: JHU SAIS-BC, ISS (Hague), GSD (Geneva) Rejected: Georgetown MSFS, LSE, SOAS, IHEI (Geneva) Waitlisted: Columbia SIPA Waiting: Dual Program Sciences Po/LSE

Why is that? First, a lot of people don't even know what JHU is both in the U.S. nor abroad. Second, most people recognize Columbia. Third, from my experiences in Asia, the educated class is very status orientated. For example, in China to be regarded in high professional circles you almost have to have gone to a top 5 famous overall school, such as Columbia or the same in China. Despite rankings within the United States for specific programs, my feeling is that outside of Europe most people will still be looking at your school, not some random ranking in Foreign Affairs.
