SunnyWade Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 I don't even know what to think anymore...today I came home to a notice that they had tried to deliver a certified letter. Is it even possible a school that I've applied to sends out decisions via certified mail? My husband and I aren't expecting anything, so of course that's my first reaction/thought (but so expensive). What do you all think? Has anyone heard of that before? I might just be going crazy...
coonskee Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 I've heard about schools sending overnight FedEx packages with decisions, so maybe? Fingers crossed for you!
SunnyWade Posted February 28, 2012 Author Posted February 28, 2012 Wow, I had no idea. I'm not a spectacular person (in other words, not a star #1 awesome student that they would want to make sure they get) but I suppose it could happen. The way I'm looking at it is, they wouldn't send a rejection letter certified. I sure hope I'm thinking in the right direction...
omigoshlolz Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 When I got into NYU for undergrad, they sent it UPS and I missed the package (they didn't leave it at my door) and all I had was a little slip and I had to pick it up, but it was closed over the weekend and oh, it was a bad weekend. Turns out, when I picked it up, it was an acceptance! I don't think they'd spend all that money to send a rejection letter. Rejections get regular mail. Acceptances get tracked and fancy folders that they don't want bent. Hm. Too bad I couldn't go because it was so expensive. Good luck!

Now as long as it's actually for me and not something for my husband! Thanks
MediaMom Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 (edited) FWIW, I have a M.S. from Ithaca and my acceptance and TA-ship letter both just came standard USPS. (But that was in 2001 and for the Park School.) So in telling you this I might be helping you to cross IC off your possible list of senders of the letter. But then, who knows? SunnyWade Posted March 2, 2012 Author Posted March 2, 2012 Did you ever find out what it was? It was a renters insurance letter. SO bummed. rowlf Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Oh no, there has been some mistake. Take this back and bring me an acceptance letter from my first choice graduate program. It's okay; I'll wait here while you get it. Thanks. Those damn renter insurers, such teases! SunnyWade, I am sorry the letter wasn't what you thought it was.
