Safferz Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 damn once again hbeels? Oseirus, I don't think hbeels was intentionally discriminating against you or other speakers of Gibberish. The fact that BCEmory08 isn't listed under 'Italian' in hbeels post leads me to believe she copied and pasted the list from an earlier post that didn't include the last few additions. That said, you have my support and solidarity! unforth, oseirus and Safferz 3

unforth Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 (edited) I noticed a number of folks speak German. I'm getting increasingly interested in learning German well enough to read and translate. Can any of you recommend any resources for doing so? (ie, good textbooks/workbooks, etc...) Edited May 11, 2012 by unforth
annieca Posted May 11, 2012 Author Posted May 11, 2012 They're expensive to get in the US, but Langenscheidt's is probably the best resource I have ever used. The textbooks (Berliner Platz) are made for foreigners learning German in Germany so you definitely learn practical German immediately. There is very little English in the textbooks which is *awesome* for learning. That being said, the Berliner Platz series has problems with teaching grammar - I would recommend buying a separate grammar book to help you with the four cases. I got through the first two books and never learned the fourth case, for example.
unforth Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Is this the one? http://www.amazon.com/Berliner-German-Edition-Christine-Lemcke/dp/3468478313/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1336766115&sr=8-1-spell If so, the price isn't bad at all!

unforth Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 lol, no apology needed. Though I can't help answer yours, the only language I know resources for is Japanese.
