11Q13 Posted February 18, 2013 Author Posted February 18, 2013 (edited) If it makes you feel any better, you won't be the first guy to break a department's heart. They know how the game gets played; and not only that, but they're smart and have a whole list of eligible bachelors and bachelorettes who the department will be more than happy to shower with affection should you choose someone else. Actually, maybe that is why. I'm pretty sure at least one has no waitlist... Also, not all universities are taking today as a holiday, so there's still a chance that information will go out today. Yep...I'm teaching today Edited February 18, 2013 by 11Q13
TriGeek Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 I talked with UVa today, and they have sent out acceptances for both the TEC program and Historical Studies. I found out that both areas have put me down as first on the wait list. Has anyone been accepted to those programs, and if so, do you plan to accept?
sidewalks Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 TriGreek, did you call UVA? and did they say how they were notifying via email, mail etc?
Theo-Be Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Haha - that almost sounds like a Valentine! Please tell me you got that email last Thursday. yes i did get it on thursday! ha! any word from fordham? Body Politics 1
yhujikol Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Brown committee still has meetings this week.
TriGeek Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 TriGreek, did you call UVA? and did they say how they were notifying via email, mail etc? I called UVa to see where they were in their deliberations, and I was told that they are notifying people via email. I am not sure if they have sent out rejections, but I know that they have not sent out wait list letters, which seems rather odd to me. Found out that I was rejected from Emory today. I called them.
NTstudent Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 I called UVa this morning and found out that all the offers for admission have been sent out, but they have not yet received any response from the elect. The committee is supposed to meet again on the 8th of March to finalize the order of the waitlist. This was an administrative person, not a faculty member. So, there is probably more to the story, but at the least it indicates if you haven't heard something yet then you did not receive an initial offer.
sidewalks Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 This is not necessarily true, I just called, not all emails were ready and sent last night. More emails will be sent today!
ecotheology518 Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Does that mean that UVa will also send out rejections soon or ...?
sidewalks Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 (edited) I just got my UVA wait list letter a minute ago Edited February 19, 2013 by sidewalks
Body Politics Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Rejected at Loyola. Not surprised, but still a bit of a bummer.
fsm Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 I spoke with U. Texas today and they said they were trying to have results out by the end of this week.
NTstudent Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 This is not necessarily true, I just called, not all emails were ready and sent last night. More emails will be sent today! Thank you for the clarification. I suppose initial offers may be making their way out this week, but the person I spoke with indicated that the waitlist is not finalized at this point. She may have been attempting to avoid telling me I was rejected or, more likely, she probably doesn't have any idea who is on the wait-list. But I would imagine that the professors have a fairly clear idea at this point. I don't think I'm on it, but who knows. Just out of curiosity, what is your concentration?

EndlessAshley Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 I haven't officially received my UVa letter yet, either, but I do know I have also been wait listed for Historical Studies (JCA).
ecotheology518 Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 I haven't officially received my UVa letter yet, either, but I do know I have also been wait listed for Historical Studies (JCA). Should I just contact UVA then since I haven't received anything from there ejther? If so who should I contact?
EndlessAshley Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Couldn't hurt! The religious studies graduate coordinator would be the person to call.
suzzzanna Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 I emailed UVA and they told me that I was neither accepted nor on the waiting list. So there's that. Nothing is finalized yet, though, so to those who are still holding out hope, good luck! indefiniteintegral 1
