I was so excited that it was finally Monday... but I guess we will still be waiting :/ Hopefully we get news sometime this week!

Where are you still waiting to hear from, aside from BU and ASU?

I can get Office very cheap.  I'm not sure my institution covers it, but my husband can get it from work cheap :)  I'm peeking online at various reviews of computers while pretending to finish my essay :P

I'm going to try to go with a very small one, as carrying it around gets heavy.  Maybe once I hear from more schools I'll head out to Best Buy see what they have in stock and what they can tell me.

I'm really grateful for your advice, now that's one less huge choice to make!

NAU (Northern AZ), Teachers College, Baylor, TCU, Vanderbilt.  At this point, I've really narrowed it down to 2-- UNC and another that I haven't heard from.  I won't be heartbroken if I am rejected from all 7 schools, but I would just like to know! :(

Hey--I just discovered this forum. I have applied to ECU and UNC. Looks like most everyone has heard from UNC. I have heard nothing and can't find anything on website. Has everyone else received a decision?

Wait before buying Office - every school I've attended offers it either free (for Windows, at my last school) or deeply discouted ($6, for my old mac).

It isn't the professional version, but it did include Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

I've had a Mac for years, but for those exclusive Windows-only items, I've installed a virtual Windows drive on my Mac. Best of both worlds.

Seconded. Microsoft runs deals for students as well. I got Office Ultimate in my undergrad for 60 bucks. Universities also often have huge discounts for other software (Adobe Photoshop, etc).

No. However, we are pretty sure that the rest of the decisions are split between wait lists and rejections. Another poster on the forum suggested e-mailing the program to have your decision expedited.

Yep, When I emailed Ina Diana at UNC about status of applications, she said ALL decisions had been made.  So, at this point, I would start emailing her.  The people in the graduate school admin office who update the computer system are probably VERY busy with uploading status updates from all of the MANY programs in graduate studies that UNC has.  Best of luck to you, Eavo!

I was so sure I would be hearing something today. Harumph.

I am driving myself crazy.  I am just going to re-adjust my thinking and ASSUME I will hear on Friday.  That way I can just take it easy until then...... Now let's see if I can live by that assumption.........

So, when you emailed her, she gave you your status? Just seems so strange that some folks got rejections and the rest of us just heard nothing.

She won't share your status via email /phone -- that has to come straight from the grad school. However, about 2-3 hours after I emailed her and she replied, I got an email from UNC grad school that my application status was available online (in the apply yourself website).  If you haven't checked the AY site with your crazy number/letter combo login, check there first, then contact Ms. Diana.  I have a feeling that she made a call to get the decision uploaded more quickly, despite the fact that mine was a rejection.  :-(

I don't know if this is a rational paranoia or not ... our next-door neighbor has her mail on hold while she is out of state at her other house.  The mailbox was empty today.  Gosh I hope the postman didn't confuse which mail to hold and which mail to deliver...!!!!

Congrats!!! When did you get the email?!

This might sound silly, but for those of you who got the email from BU about your acceptance, was it personally addressed to you or like a mass email type of thing?  Not sure if I should start feeling depressed about not getting one!
