Their loss :P

Were you accepted? Weren't you waiting too?

No love here either. Guess they lost out twice ;)

Too true! I hope you have good alternatives! :)  My POI there was honest about me being a good fit for her but not the department overall... I guess I should have seen it coming.

I'd also love to hear about UCLA's Student Affairs Open House. I was admitted but could not attend. Any information and your egneral impression would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry about the delay!

The Open House was a good opportunity to meet the students and faculty. There were a lot of current students around to talk to during the whole day, and the faculty came in the morning and told us about their roles in the program (and some had lunch with us). The faculty definitely emphasized that they admitted people that they thought would be successful in the program. It seemed like they were really close and comfortable with the students, which was one of my concerns because it is a one-year program. The students who were there talked to us about how much they liked the cohort model, their internships, their courses, how they found housing, and what they hope to do after completing the program. They told us that like, only one person has not completed the program...basically that the school and faculty work really hard to make sure you have enough support to finish. And they also said that the latest anyone has found a job after graduation is November, which seems pretty impressive. You could definitely tell that the students were confident in the program, and many were very well-spoken about how their experiences will prepare them for a career in student affairs.

Sorry for the long winded reply! Those were my general impressions. If you would like to know more, I would be happy to PM!

Anyone else admitted to the SSCE program at UCLA?  I hadn't heard from them so I emailed to check up on my status today and found out I got in.   I haven't heard anything about funding, scholarships, etc. and I'm just wondering if anyone else has.

Is it typical for UCs to take this long to review applicants? Should I just give up hope or do UCs admit in April?

Hmm. . . I'm not sure about the notification timeframes for all of the schools. In general, it seems like many programs notify admits in February. But, never give up hope! If you are waiting for a specific program, you could contact your POI or the grad rep for that program.

Thanks. I tried contacting the POI, but no response. It seems as if the non-UC schools are much better at responding to applicants and keeping them updated (just my experience).

I'm glad someone did this. Just an FYI, my poi at ucla called me and accepted me a month ago, however, I still haven't received any type of official notification (it's actually stressing me a little bit).

What are people's thoughts on ucla's higher ed phd? I don't really trust us news for anything, and I'm trying to assess the "prestige" factor of the program in terms of job prospects after graduation. Obviously your POI is extremely important in that, as is what you accomplish yourself, but I'm a little concerned the program isn't strong enough to be competitive for tenure track positions at well respected ed schools. Also, their website has no information about recent grads.

I'm also curious to hear people's opinions about USC's program.

YAY! I've been searching for other UC applicants! :) I've been admitted into the Higher Ed masters program at UCLA. I haven't received any information about visitation days, and I was wondering if anyone else has applied to the program and knows something about their open houses?

FYI to those accepted into a masters program at UCLA's graduate school of education, they do not have visit days for masters programs. I called earlier today and the women said, although there are no specific visit days scheduled for masters programs, you can visit the school and they would be happy to give you information, show you around, and possibly sit in a class.

Anybody else heard back from the UCLA Higher Ed PhD folks? So far, one person posted an early admittance to the PhD program and a few folks got into the Master's.
