I got in! I got in!

CONGRATS!!!!

I'm kind of ashamed to admit how much of an emotional roller-coaster this whole admissions process has been. However, it feels so great to be down safely on the ground. Are you going to the open house?

Posted

I wonder if they are doing it in alphabetical order? anyone care sharing the first initial of their last name?

Another one just went up... so hopefully emails are still rolling.  I can't lie, I'm starting to panic a bit.

Don't be ashamed. This process is ridiculous and emotional for everyone. I didn't somewhat relax until I heard back from my first school.

And I'm very much going to try to attend open house!

Thinking good thoughts!

Based on the filename of my letter, it appears they are going in groups - 2 yr. vs. 3 yr., in-state vs. out-of-state.  My last initial is T.  :-)  Good luck!

What open house?

This was in the letter: "You are invited to a departmental Open House on Friday, April 5."

tuckerma, do you have a school that you're leaning toward more than the others, or is it mostly dependent on financial awards?

Tuckerma,

It was mentioned in the first paragraph of the letter I received... though no time was given:

"Congratulations!  ....  You are invited to a departmental Open House on Friday, April 5. Please save the date if you can and RSVP to slhsgrad@colorado.edu as soon as possible if you plan to attend."

(emphasis added by me)

Am I going nuts? There is nothing about that in my letter. Maybe you guys are being wooed.  :-)   Here are the first 2 paragraphs of mine:

"Congratulations! The Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences is pleased to offer

you admission for Fall 2013 to the Master’s Degree program leading to professional certification in

Speech-Language Pathology.

The two-year Master’s program begins with two required preparatory courses running from August 5-

21, 2013, prior to the fall semester. Fall Orientation will take place on Friday, August 23, and the first

day of classes will be Monday, August 26."

Midnight, I am still undecided. Financial aid will make a big difference.

tuckerma,

being wooed... that is kind of funny! I did go back and look at the letter, the comment about the open house is in a different size font in mine... not sure what that means but they may have been piecing the letters together from templates and accidentally omitted it from yours?

Posted

I doubt they would woo me! Hahaha. (And seriously, who's the person with the 170/168 GRE? Whoever you are, I'm in awe of you!)

Maybe your letter is an earlier draft that they forgot to edit.

Hmmm.  Now I wonder if I should ask.  But that could be like inviting yourself to a dinner party that you heard about from a friend!  Haha!

Posted

You could ask about potentially visiting and then I bet they would tell you about it!

That's probably what I'll do. The graduate coordinator may think I'm a dummy who didn't read the letter carefully, but I can live with that.  :-)

I really want to visit Boulder but I'm going to be on the East coast for another open house on April 5th. I emailed Boulder about scheduling another day to visit but haven't heard back from them yet. Is anyone else planning on visiting on a different day than the open house?

Congrats to you, SDBear! You have some fantastic choices.

I'm going on April 5, but some schools are receptive to scheduling visits on other days. I hope you get a chance to do so.

Oh, and CassieKay, miscarthur: Did you hear anything?

Hi Everyone!

I applied to both CU Boulder and Northwestern, and they are two of the three programs I have yet to hear from. I see that they've been sending out decisions since the end of last week, so my hope is dwindling, however I'd still like to know one way or another. I haven't gotten anything from either of them! When do you think it would be ok to call and ask for a status update?

Accepted: George Washington, New Mexico State

Waitlisted: Columbia

I'm sorry.

I hope you love Columbia, and congrats on all of your other acceptances!

I haven't heard anything from Boulder either. I called today and they said they were working on the letters as we spoke. I find it weird that some people have been accepted, rejected, and waitlisted but I have heard nothing. Should I expect a rejection?

It looks like the letters are all put together by hand, so it may take a while? I have no clue what the process is, so I can't even begin to tell you what to expect. My fingers are crossed for you though!!
