CassieKay
Has anyone here received news from UA? I saw one person received an acceptance by phone, and the other by email. I was thought it was strange that they received acceptances in two different ways like that --- leading me to obsessively check my phone and email haha. Also, it seemed strange that only two people have posted results. I'm thinking they are possibly only admitting to their 3 year program right now, and that could explain for the small number of people reporting? Any insight you can give would be greatly appreciated!
Tuck
It could also be that they are contacting people who are being offered fellowships personally before sending out a mass email.
deleria
Hi! I was accepted to University of Arizona - they called and sent an email shortly thereafter. They haven't made any final decisions on fellowships yet, however. Good luck! Edited February 22, 2013 by deleria
CassieKay
Thanks for sharing Deleria. What day were you contacted? Did you apply to the 3 year tract or the typical 2 year masters program? Also, if you don't mind sharing your stats/info, I would love to hear what kind of applicant they are looking for. Congratulations on the acceptance!
krlslp
Hi! I recieved the acceptance via email - they said a hard copy of the acceptance letter is on its way in the mail. I was surprised to hear back so early!! I was accepted to the 3 year track, so maybe they are doing those acceptances first. My stats are on the results board, I'm an out of field applicant but my undergrad major was in Brain and Cognitive Sciences with a language track, and after graduating I've been working as a lab manager in a BCS lab doing language acquisition research. Delaria, did they give you any information on when they will be making decisions on fellowships?
deleria
Hey, congrats to you too, kluke! Are you going to any of the open houses? I really want to, but I wish I would know about funding first - it's super expensive to fly out there from the east coast! They didn't give me an exact time when they would be letting people know, but they said they had 9 TA positions for 20 students. And thanks, CassieKay! I applied to the 2 year program and was notified on 2/20. My GPA is relatively low (3.4-ish), but I have a strong research background, a 3.9 in the major and last 60 hours, a minor in cognitive neurosicence, and I think my LORs were really strong. krlslp
Thanks!! I'm having a hard time deciding whether to visit - I'm on the east coast as well so it would definitely be expensive! If I do visit I would probably go to the March 18th open house, but I'm holding off on getting plane tickets for now. Hoping to hear back from more of my schools this week/early next week and maybe make a decision after that. Hearing about funding would really help too, thanks for sharing what you found out! kerwolfe712
Well, I must admit, hearing that there was some sort of open house today when I still haven't heard makes me feel that I probably didn't get in... But just in case, are any of you able to check your status online? I haven't gotten any email, I haven't received anything in the mail (and I live in Tucson, so it's not like it has far to travel). I'm to the point where I log in to my application almost every day. I'm not even 100% sure I'm looking in the right spot to find out though. The graduate college website just says to log in. So I log in, click on apps and get a page that has check marks for all the sections, including submission and then a blank box that says status. I assumed that to be the most likely place to find an answer. Am I looking in the right place? Thanks and congratulations for those of you who've gotten in! Kerwolfe, did you receive the email last Wednesday from the department saying that all letters have been mailed out to our current addresses? I am in DC, and I have yet to receive anything. When you log in and click on your application, the status is at the top. Mine still says, "Your application has been received by the Graduate College..." I heard back on February 28th. I informed them that I won't be attending, so perhaps if you are on the wait list then that opens up a spot!!! Good luck to both of you!!!! kerwolfe712
I didn't get an email about results being sent out. But when I log in, I still get the same status message (that its been submitted and I'll be notified of a decision). I was thinking about calling, but after the strongly worded email I got upon submission that was very specific about NOT calling, it makes me hesitant to call. I'd hate to alienate someone on staff by calling when they don't want to be bombarded, you know?

CassieKay
Has anyone heard about funding yet? I know they said by April 15, but I was hoping maybe they would let us know sooner.
deleria
Has anyone heard about funding yet? I know they said by April 15, but I was hoping maybe they would let us know sooner. I went to the open house and they said all funding offers had been extended, and they would keep going down the list if those people turned down their offers. They said the amount of funding for this year had been cut and they were prioritizing keeping their current students' funding. I didn't get any funding, personally (at least so far). AngieCummins
I officially accepted admission to the U of A last week. Is anyone else on this forum attending in the fall?
hopefulspeechie16
Any reviews on U of A? I'm planning to apply but wasn't sure how much the tuition was.
