Theo-Be Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 any predictions? i'm going with cardinal turkson from ghana!
Seatbelt Blue Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 I think Ravasi or Ouellet is most likely. My heart belongs to Sean O'Malley.
Therewillbeluke Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Rowan Williams! It would be a Cinderella story! Josh J. 1

Theo-Be Posted March 12, 2013 Author Posted March 12, 2013 Rowan Williams! It would be a Cinderella story! one of my students was rooting for desmond tutu until i reminded him he wasn't catholic! Josh J. 1
Seatbelt Blue Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 I'll be honest. I think O'Malley has a good shot at winning because, in my opinion, he possesses the essential qualities needed, and any conclave seriously considering the Church would have to give him a real solid look. That said, there are *other* cardinals with equal virtues who would do very well in the position, and while I believe O'Malley would be excellent, I can't say he's the only one who would be. My great hope is that it's not an Italian. Josh J. and hwrios 1 1
aud Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 I don't have a prediction but I'd vote Tagle if I could. I think he's in a good position to make the Church truly global. Schonborn would be my 2nd choice, though O'Malley's pretty good too.
Seatbelt Blue Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 In order of likelihood: 1) Ravasi 2) Ouellet 3) Schoenborn 4) Scherer 5) O'Malley
Seatbelt Blue Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 (edited) Black smoke. I'm assuming the Busey candidacy has fallen through. Edited March 12, 2013 by Seatbelt Blue Body Politics 1
Seatbelt Blue Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Cardinal Busey had a good run. Don't feel bad. It's hard to get 77 votes.

Therewillbeluke Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Well Seatbelt Blue, you didn't get the Franciscan, but you got a Francis.

Seatbelt Blue Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Shows you what I know. But I totally had a feeling we'd get a Pope Francis.

hwrios Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Does he still count as an Italian if he is the son of Italian immigrants TO Argentina? HAHA haha! I'm mostly Italian, but my husband is 100% Spanish, so we were both pretty excited.
