lalakey
the official Fulbright Austria decisions came out a few weeks ago. The USTA decisions came out today. USTA is like an Austria Fulbright ETA, but it is not an official Fulbright because it is administered by the Austrian government. So now both Austrian decisions and DAAD have been released, but none of the German decisions have. I am also feeling the Germany vibes! I feel like it will be today or Friday. Total speculation though haha! Oh interesting. I wish I could have applied to Austria for my Fulbright, but my contact there wrote me a letter well after the deadline. Oh well. Naok
Congratulations to everyone accepted! I'm a hopeful ETA applicant to Brazil. I was really glad to find this forum and instantly take comfort that so many other people are feeling the same levels of anxiety as me. Fingers crossed for all of us! coopfing
Hi all! Long-time lurker, first-time commenter and all that. It's been so comforting finding a community of folks who are just as quick to refresh their emails as I am - my friends are getting pretty alarmed by my constant googledoc checking. Just got word that I was accepted to USTA, so if Germany decides they don't want me I can always pop over and visit. : ) Huge congratulations to everyone still accepted, and great admiration for those who are waiting out alternate or trying again next year. To everyone still waiting - here's hoping today is your day, and you see that (P) in the subject line! fulbright_to_India and SmarteyMartey

kbui
Not sure if this is accurate as I found this off an online discuss board, but thought I'd share: "As I understand it, it's not that there are X number of slots, its that there is $Y of money, at least on the country or region level. So if someone rejects an offer to go to one of the places with the highest dollar amount attached to it, potentially even two alternates going to cheaper places could be offered awards." Wow, you really did your research. Lol, they need to accept you!
olioliwoo
Wow, you really did your research. Lol, they need to accept you! It's my coping mechanism for all this uncertainty ^___^;; If this is indeed true, then I think this might be good news for me. Most people who apply to France want to be based in Paris, but I want to be based in Lyon, which has a lower cost of living.

Damn you for all of the acid reflux you are giving me. HAHA I totally feel you. My Fulbright email also goes to what I consider my "junk" email... I don't know why I signed up with that one but I did, so I get a ton of emails on that account and I'm always like OMG FOUR MORE EMAILS and it's all just living social deals. monster.tigerbot
I wish my school's fellowship office would stop sending emails with Fulbright in the subject line.... That literally just happened to me. "Have you heard anything? They are sending out notifications." To be fair, I missed the first round of notifications by, like, two days, because I was misinformed as to the date range of the notification, so I was a week or two off. Damn you for all of the acid reflux you are giving me. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I had to chime in on this one....I'm sitting here at work, hating my job, counting down the hours and refreshing this forum and my email a million times a day. Everytime I get the little vibration of my phone signaling a new email my heart flutters, I grab it, hoping this could be the moment of truth, but alas.... REI is having a sale, or Bath and Body Works is selling two for one candles or even worse, Bed Bath and Beyond sends me 20% off coupons at least twice a day. By the time we get our Fulbright notifications, I will be unsubscribed from every possible junk mail that has ever graced my inbox!!!!! If these companies only knew how their advertisements made me feel these days!!!
GnosisExchange
That literally just happened to me. "Have you heard anything? They are sending out notifications." Thanks for the tip, bro. To be fair, I missed the first round of notifications by, like, two days, because I was misinformed as to the date range of the notification, so I was a week or two off. BUT STILL. "Fulbright?" doesn't make anyone feel chill. At least the ones you get actually apply to you. Mine are directed at Juniors telling them about the meeting for the 2015-2016 application cycle. I already went last year! That is why they endorsed my application! I get they want to make sure people know about this opportunity, but isn't there some method to alter the mailing list so that those of use freaking out don't have a heart attack every other time we open our email. Sorry, I know this is a silly rant, but it bugs me.
Anahid
I know that I received my January recommendation on a Tuesday at like 5:55 or 5:58pm. So, every day when I walk home from the office or wherever in DC, I anxiously refresh my phone at that time. Same thing, stupid Netflix or Grubhub

sorubo
Ugh, I'm dying here! And I'm supposed to have a thirty-page script finished by Thursday morning. Ha. Fulbright is all I can think about. Then again, I'm worried that once I find out, I'll be forced to go back to dealing with the misery of my recent breakup. Man, I'm such a downer. The moral of the story is that I AM LOSING IT IN EVERY POSSIBLE WAY.
th1992
Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one losing it. I actually feel anxious all the time and I've started to do things that will force me to relax, so I can go back to being stressed. I've actually noticed physical changes to my stress, like upset stomach, headache, etc. THE STRUGGLE IS REAL, YA'LL
