PeteRockGP Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Hi Everyone, Almost all of the programs I'm applying to require both micro- and macroeconomics courses to be complete before the start of the program. I never took microeconomics and I need to get that in as soon as possible. However, I'm currently abroad for a year and I will not be able to take it at a regular university. Will the admissions committees look down on an online course? What online course would bet best to both satisfy the requirement and the doubts of the admissions committees? Thank you, Pete Rock
Wanderlust22 Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 I'm attending SFS this year and they told me that courses from Straighterline were acceptable. I took macro and stat with them - it's go at your own pace and super cheap compared to others. You will definitely need to get your hands on the textbook, or download it,though. And you probably want to check with admissions at all the schools you are applying to (or alternatively most of them may have that info on their website). Pinkman 1

Thanks for the info.

carpecc Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 Take it on line or wherever is convenient. As several admin told me: we don't care where you take it, just that you *have* taken it. To look at it another way, some schools will exclude you automatically if you do not.
BurmeseAlien Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 My friend in SAIS took both her Macro and econ online prior to matriculation. You should be fine!
HerrDBoo Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 SAIS has an oline program that does micro- and macro- That's what I'm taking and just adding that info into a supplemental doc so that the adcomm knows and can take it into consideration.
