In recent years around 30-50, you can nose around some data by department here: http://www.grad.washington.edu/about/statistics/admissions/

(ignore the Statistics: Advanced Methods and Data Analysis line in the reports for the past couple of years, that's for the fee-based master's program)

Hi Wine,

are you sure these 45 people are all admitted to the PhD program but not PhD&MS combined?

Hi Wine,

Yeah, I think the 45 admitted last year were for the PhD (though you can get your master's on the way as a PhD direct admit student). An additional 50 were admitted for the fee-based MS. The enrollment numbers on each line (16 for PhD, 17 for MS) correspond to the number of new bodies here, so I assume the admit numbers are right too. (I will grant you that both programs having the exact same admit rate in 2013 looks suspicious.)

There are also a handful of concurrent degree master's students (students getting a master's doing a PhD in other departments) and I'm not sure which bucket they went in, if any, but there's only a few of them.

Hope Washington's second wave of admissions come soon..

Michigan is also coming soon. They just checked my website yesterday (Googlesites has tracking).

I've kinda given up hope for getting any offer for UW Stats.

Now to wait for Michigan...

Me too...

I think Wharton may have also given out an offer? Business schools only admit like 2-3 a year anyways.

I hope you're right.

Didn't get into Washington Stats. I was expecting that I wouldn't.

I emailed them and received:

Thank you very much for your application and interest in our graduate program.

You have heard correctly that we have sent our first round of offers as well as denials.  In the next couple of weeks our Admissions Committee will establish a waiting list.  We won't know if anyone from the waiting list will be selected until we receive decisions from the first round of offers.

Please feel free to check back with us on the status of your application again.

Implies I may be waitlisted?

What do you guys think this means?

Hmm, possibly. Maybe they will do a second round of offers and denials (depending on how many some people immediately accept their offer).

OR

Maybe everyone who hasn't been notified yet is on a waitlist that they plan to rank (so establishing such a ranking could be what they mean when they say "establish a waiting list"), and they won't reject anyone from this ranked waitlist until after all their available spots are filled (THEN they'll reject everyone else).

It's hard to know for sure which is the case. But if you didn't receive an e-mail at all (I didn't), there miiight still be hope. It could mean you aren't completely ruled out yet.

Any other thoughts, anyone?

I think so too. Either way, this is better than having a rejection.

Congrats. I'm getting more nervous about NC state now.... Still nothing

THX!

Some people got admissions one or two weeks ago and I got it today afternoon. I guess they may haven't sent out all admissions letters. Keep hope!
