Fulbright 2015-2016

so um,... I'm very cautious to mention this...

The professor who wrote my affiliation letter has sued his school for not extending his professorship...

(One is to retire at 65, renewal possible up to age 70.  I just found out he was born in 1950.)

I desperately want to study music in Germany.  Is that too much to dream?  Please send me anyway...!

Yipes -- what a nightmare! I do hope things work out for you. Toi toi toi!

I don't know whom to inquire (the professor, the school, U.S. FFSB, IIE, or Germany Fulbright, or seek another affiliate?), or whether I should just keep my mouth shut and wait for a notification.

I hope the Fulbright committee approaches me with options rather than just declining...!

I had dream that Fulbright wanted to verify some my information, but whenever I tried to pick up the paper it all melted away and I couldn't see the number, so I tried e-mailing them instead my computer became all floppy like a piece of paper and I couldn't type!

Gotta love anxiety!

Hello. Long time lurker, first time poster. I've appreciated reading your thoughts and experiences. It's nice to know that there are people out there just as anxious as I am :) I am a recommended Fulbright applicant for research in Hungary. As I become more anxious about the results, I notice that I'm constantly looking at the spreadsheet, analyzing it probably more than is necessary. One pattern I found relates to the days of the week that notifications are sent. For Hungary, notifications have been sent on Monday, Friday, Wednesday, Friday, Monday (in that order since 2010). Is it too assumptive or hopeful for me to trust this pattern and anticipate an email on Friday (tomorrow)? :)

Hello! My general impression this year is that if there ever was a pattern, it doesn't seem to be applicable this year for any of the countries! For example, the UK has notified 3rd Tuesday of the month for 5 years....and now it's Thursday!

Plus, a whole bunch of other countries that were notified much later last year have already been notified this year. It all seems like a toss up!

Good luck! One of my mentors did the ETA to Hungary back in the day and it changed his whole life!

You would think planning/hosting a work event for 100+ people next week would take my mind off of Fulbright but nope. Here I am, refreshing my inbox and this forum simultaneously.

Lol are we the same person? I'm also working on planning an event for my organization. I'm not accomplishing anything. I'm supposed to be finding wine right now for the event but I just wanna find wine for myself.

Haha, we are certainly on the same boat! Costco has great deals on wine. So much cheaper than buying it from a vendor.

ME EITHER. I can't focus on anything.

Same here, I really need to crank out my thesis in this last month before I graduate, but the only thing on my mind is that email!!!! C'mon Taiwan... maybe next week??

If I knew any of you lived near me, I would definitely suggest an "anxiously-waiting meetup" to go have a drink and good food and talk about our projects. The rule: you can't refresh your email...AT ALL. (But only because it would be after 5 pm and, come on, someone has to force us not to be ridiculous, right?)
