Ardnas058 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I am curios to know how everyone is handling the waiting period. I know there are similar posts in other forums, but since I mostly stick to the SW forum, I thought it would be nice to post one in this forum. I started volunteering. I also enrolled in a yoga class...figured yoga would be beneficial to my self-care .
lucyyy19 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I also started volunteering for a social service agency. But it's mostly child care while parents go to assigned court parenting classes. What does your volunteer consist of? Really considering yoga!

I am volunteeering with an organizations that assists youth through the college admission process ex. helping students with the FAFSA application. I'm looking fwd to the yoga class! You should!!
wisescience Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I'm doing research for a few hours each week and volunteering as a firefighter in a town nearby. I'm taking each day as it comes.
Sarah Bee Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Got a rejection from one of the two programs I applied to. Now dreading the next rejection. Although I was initially highly confident when applying but now it seems the world has come to an end! So I am just stressing out and though I tried a lot of things to keep myself engaged, it is just not helping!
Inka dreams Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I am busy getting sick... damn flu wont leave me for the whole week... :-/
elbimbo Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I am busy working in a job that is somewhat unrelated to social work. However, I've been volunteering as a sexual assault counselor for the past year Also been trying to get in better shape!
Lifesaver Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Haha, I wish I had free time to do things like work out. I've been working as much overtime (also in a field completely unrelated) as I possibly can in order to get a few extra dimes in my bank account. Not being able to work for the next two years is a pretty scary thought.

This wait makes me anxious... so I have bombarded myself with work. I work at a high school, tutor kids at elementary and middle schools, work with kids who are truant, and am leading a research at CSULB on domestic violence. AND!!! I am doing yoga too! Are you doing corepower? I've done a lot of different kinds but hot yoga at corepower is my all time favorite.

No, it I am doing yoga stretch. I've done regular yoga in the past, but never corepower. I am stuggling with some back issues so yoga stretch is appropriate for this.

Not being able to work for the next two years is a pretty scary thought. I too am freaking out about not being able to work for TWO YEARS! I've always worked since college so I'm panicking about it! I think that it the scariest part about al this for me. I figure I'll manage, but I keep thinking I want to find some time of job that requires minimal hours..at least for gas money to/from school and placements!
Lifesaver Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 I worked through college and my first masters degree, so this whole no work thing is FREAKING ME OUT. Especially with the price of living increase I'm about to endure when I move. Yikes. I'm hoping I can do something on weekends for cash. Babysitting? Bar tending? Something?
