I see tons of Comp Lit listings in the thing but no one posts in the forum. :(

I was/am looking for the person that got into UGA comp lit...

I know there is a huge comp lit discussion on http://www.livejournal.com/community/who_got_in . Maybe you can find out something there?

Edit: http://community.livejournal.com/who_got_in/8426.html - that's the direct link!

Edit 2: Duh. You're BrittDreams from LJ. I think that's my que to go to bed! Haha ;)

Indeed. And I have been reading the thread on LJ. But I think there are some listings in your survey that don't correspond to any that I've seen on LJ and that's why I was asking.

Hi!

I'm the one who posted that entry about UGA comp lit. I had applied for the Ph.d. program but they are offering me MA. I had asked the graduate coordinator by mail and he responded saying they decided just last week... the same day I also received an intimation from the graduate school to take a look at my application status page...

I'm an international applicant. don't have a formal background in literature but am dying to get in...

Hi abcd,

Have you heard about funding yet? What are your languages? Sorry for all the questions but UGA Comp Lit is high on my list (they have a lot of profs working on African literature, which is one of my interests) but no one ever seems to mention it on any of the grad forums that I check (or used to check). Do you know anything about program rankings? Feel free to private message me if you want.

Where else did you apply and what are you looking to study?

Congrats! I have very recently become a forum groupie, apparently long after the appeal died down, i.e. after acceptances/rejections. I feel like I know you! Enjoy WashU; it's a terrific program and an outstanding academic environment. Wish me luck on funding (not to mention the response from JHU which I am sure is a no go).

Yes, fingers crossed for funding!!! And, who knows, JHU might still be something. They haven't notified at all! They admitted some people early on (one person that I know of) but apart from that, no news...

Best of luck!!!

I still haven't, I presume a rejection letter will drop in my mail box in a couple of weeks. For me, it doesn't matter anymore, I chose WashU over them and have already arranged my flight, apartment, etc. I just think that they should've let us know something at a decent time. We pay an application fee, so the least they can do for that is answer an e-mail asking them about your status, etc. Letting us know by the first of May that we didn't get in is just rude! Then again, it doesn't matter anymore, but it's still not the way to deal with applicants. The same goes for Emory btw, they admitted students months ago and haven't informed the rest about anything!

Tell me about it. I've been toying with the idea of demanding my money back (though of course I won't). I've already accepted a better offer--my no. 2 choice in fact--but can't shake off the annoyance that not only have they not informed me, but they have actively ignored my emailed requests for information.

Good luck at WashU!
