dr. t Posted May 22, 2015 Author Posted May 22, 2015 My graduation's not until Thursday, but I just picked up my wizard's robes! If you're going to charge me $80 to rent them for a week, you're damned sure I'm going to wear them every day. ashiepoo72, Gambaosaka1 and Heimat Historian 3
Gambaosaka1 Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 I'm back freelancing after spending all my pennies in Tokyo...being in university sounds much more appealing. Congrats! tingdeh 1

Chiqui74 Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 My husband got a great job offer in NYC! We are moving in 3 or 4 weeks. I'm headed to Harvard on Sunday for the seminar, and I'll be staying in an AirBnB place halfway between Harvard and MIT. I'm so freaking excited. dr. t, Ritwik, Gambaosaka1 and 1 other 4
Heimat Historian Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 That's fantastic Chiqui! Congratulations to your husband. My wife found a job in Iowa City at the University. She's moving up there a week from Tuesday. It's getting real around here. ashiepoo72, Chiqui74 and cscruggs78 3
Chiqui74 Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 I arrived in Cambridge today, and it's pissing it down.

dr. t Posted June 3, 2015 Author Posted June 3, 2015 Landed an apartment. Moving up from 1BR to 3BR for essentially the same rent. Goodbye, Boston housing market, and don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out. thedig13, Gambaosaka1, Heimat Historian and 2 others 5
dr. t Posted June 11, 2015 Author Posted June 11, 2015 Oh my God. They have shown my apartment at least 25 times. There are 10 showings scheduled for today. Fortunately, my cats have not yet managed to escape. Heimat Historian 1
Heimat Historian Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 That's an awful lot of showings. We're currently on the other end looking at new homes for our move.
ashiepoo72 Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 In about two weeks I get to give two lectures for a bunch of undergrads while one of my MA profs is at a sweet conference Heimat Historian 1
Heimat Historian Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 That sounds like fun Ashiepoo. What do you get to lecture on? In other news, we found a place to live in Iowa. Things are falling into place. Chiqui74 1
ashiepoo72 Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 I'm covering in a survey summer course, so I get to lecture on a HUGE amount, from the Great Depression to LBJ. Gotta love survey courses. Luckily it's my wheelhouse! Congrats on finding a place! Now we all need to move to our respective cities and start our programs. So exciting! Let's make sure and stay in touch throughout, I'd love to hear about everyone's classes and projects as they progress Heimat Historian and tingdeh 2
ToomuchLes Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 (edited) And 41 days until my move =D! I already get super excited when IU emails me. Today, they sent me information about orientation, and after reading it, I did a little jump for joy. Hopefully, no one saw cause I was walking my dog at the time. Edited June 25, 2015 by LeventeL
Heimat Historian Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Leaps of joy are always welcome! I'm getting very excited. Just have to get through July
dr. t Posted June 25, 2015 Author Posted June 25, 2015 (edited) I'm having a bit of difficulty getting excited about grad school because I happen to have a three-week vacation in Italy coming up next month. Woe is me, life is so hard. Edited June 25, 2015 by telkanuru Heimat Historian and Chiqui74 2

dr. t Posted June 25, 2015 Author Posted June 25, 2015 I. Hate. You. I at least scheduled a brief stop in the Florentine archives before the week I'm spending on a sailboat in the Tyrrhenian Sea thedig13 and Heimat Historian 2
