CONGRATS to the Princeton admit! Phenomenal university. Now the wait is kicked up a notch for all of us who applied there...

From looking at the results, I am thinking we should start seeing UCLA trickle out admits this week... Anyone heard anything or have connections there?

The crazy thing about this site, other than its ability to build anxiety, is how I feel like I know some of you. I find myself telling my wife stories about the people on this forum, updating her on who was accepted or rejected and where, as well as the feeling of togetherness this forum affords us. While I hate this waiting game, I'm glad I have all of you to share in the collective anxiety, paranoia, and frustration.

Yay gradcafe friends :) we are all going to be colleagues, so I'm glad we get along so well!

edit: I wish I could upvote, too! I run out almost immediately after I first check this site in the morning :(

One more acceptance!

I just heard from one of the schools that I didn't think I'd accept if I got accepted to others, but they made me a research offer that I'm finding a hard time refusing right off the bat because it's so amazing and interesting.  I'm going to have to mull this one over really hard.  Everyone I've spoken to at that school has been amazing.  I guess choices are a good problem to have!

That's awesome, Chiqui! What do you mean by "research offer"?

Offer to work on a research project with my POI (with extra pay and summer work) doing exactly the sort of research I wanted to do anyway.  I'm floored.

Summer pay!! That's awesome! I can see why it's a hard choice. You may have some more amazing surprises in store, though. It's still early :)

I've been lurking this thread for a month now and I thought I'd introduce myself. You guys are definitely the most positive and supportive that I've seen on this board--and your stories are heart-warming!

My interests can be construed into history though I'm more interested in the philosophy of history, intellectual history, and some bits of social thought. My area is essentially "modern Jewish thought." I only applied to one straight-up history program at UC Davis (because the chair of the department and I have an excellent rapport/exactly the same interests), but my application hasn't been evaluated yet because of transcript delays (rawwwwrRRRRRR). I went back and forth with admins at Davis and Hebrew U (Jerusalem) for two weeks regarding Hebrew U's new policy to only do digital transcripts and Davis' unwillingness to accept an e-transcript. Finally, they've decided to accept it (after explaining my situation to my POI who lectured the admin). Now, they're saying they haven't received my community college transcripts. ARGHgfd;sgdfg

Excluding that, I've had some really great feedback from all my POIs in the inquiry stage (and interviewed with all unofficially), but haven't heard anything definite yet and it's driving me craaaazy.

Summer pay is a dream come true.  It means no summer job.

Well, I'd still have to work for him for 20 hours a week!

I was accepted to my first and only institution this weekend (U of Michigan, American Culture).

I started screaming after I got off the phone. My mom cried and my dad started telling random strangers around him. I'm first in my family to go to college. Mom is an immigrant dad is first gen.

Went to a celebratory family dinner last night.
