Favorite Study/Writing Music

DigDeep(inactive)

Recommended Posts

Hello all!

I'm deep in the throws of my thesis and I love writing/working to music. Preferably without lyrics. Please share albums/bands that you have discovered over the years that are particularly unique and help drive your work. It's easy to go off and throw out a huge list, but try to keep it to your favorites (if you want to post more just do so later!).

I'll begin:

Tycho

Jeremy Soule (Did the scores for Skyrim, Morrowind, Guild Wars etc.)

Boards of Canada

Casino Versus Japan

Cirque du Soleil soundtracks

Keb' Mo', Marc Broussard, Hugh Laurie, and other blues musicians

Accuradio.com. They have certain sections designed for your workday like "Get Motivated" or "Concentrate." I usually just pick a genre I like, such as chill or jazz, but there are lots of options (bonus: if you use adblock plus in your browser, you don't hear the station's ads).

The soundtrack from the PS3 game Journey is beautiful.  I like it for studying or writing because I find it both pleasant and unobtrusive.  It was also the first video game soundtrack nominated for a Grammy!

Whole thing on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3hFN8UrBPw
