Like everyone else here, I'm sure, I've been watching the results page like a hawk. Only one school of mine has contacted me so far and only three others I applied to have even shown on the results page.

In the last two days, it looks like a practical tsunami of clinical psych decisions have been made. Meanwhile, social psych admits have been few and far between, especially regarding the schools I am interested in.

Is everyone else kind of in the same boat here? If not, are many of you just not posting interviews to the page?

It's early in the game, so I am not super anxious, but I find the pattern on the results page kind of weird. The only thing I can think of is large admit pools slowing down the process (acceptance rates low and applications high).

Social is definitely slower than Clinical. Not all social programs even interview, which gives them some extra time. I've heard of offers coming via email without the person ever even being contacted first.

Try emailing your POIs. I found out about a rejection that way and didn't have to wait. I've only heard about interviews from 2 others so far, so you're in good company!  ;)

Clinical psych is on a different timeline, and it's only January! I know how hard waiting is, but it's early yet. Many schools have only just come back from winter break (including UIUC, which I noticed in your sig), and the professors are just starting to make the first round of decisions. Try not to worry too much (I know, I know - it's not that easy), at least for another few weeks. :)

Hi thank you for posting this! I have been feeling the exact same way lately! I have heard from none of my programs (UIUC, Kansas, Northwestern, Minnesota, Cornell, UNC Chapel Hill) and only one has been posted about (UNC)! I, unlike you, have not been as successful at keeping my cool, and have basically convinced myself that I failed miserably, and am most definitely rejected everywhere, despite the fact that no one has even posted about my schools. Haha. Definitely tough since all of my coworkers and friends have applied to clinical, so they all have at least 2 interviews each at this point. So hard not to compare! So my response is not helpful, it is just validation. They DO seem slow. Well done on staying patient. I need to calm down.

Oh and also, @Angua Thank you for the info on UIUC!! Very very helpful. :)

YES, it seems to be really dragging.

So my husband watches the Results Search now, too. So I'll get random e-mails throughout the day about how many clinical and how few social results are posted. At least I'm not in this alone, right?

Has anyone applied to Ohio state or Cornell, and hear back from them?

I know for a fact that UNC-Chapel Hill has already sent out invites, and UCSB and UVa are still in the process of making decisions.

Hmm....How do I phrase this? I'm glad to see I'm not the only one - but then again, I'm sorry we all have to wait a while for our decisions.

It'd be cool if this site had some kind of applicant matching system based on program so that you could keep up with invites more easily. For example, there could be an Ohio State or Cornell group, not with a special board or anything, just some kind of profile designation that would group us automatically somehow.

Last week it was excited anxiousness. This week it's worrisome anxiousness. However, hearing that everyone seems to be aboard the waiting ship along with me doesn't make me feel as much existential dread.

No, but really. This is getting ridiculous...

I applied to some I-O and HF programs and I'm struggling here! Seeing all these clinical applicants pinning down interviews has only raised my anxiety.

It feels painfully slow but when looking at last year's results page it seems about on schedule. I'm also struggling.

Has UCSB Social scheduled their visit day yet?

Posted

UCSB Social day was originally scheduled for the weekend of 2/5-2/7. A bunch of people couldn't make it then so they rescheduled it to 2/17. I do agree that generally social has been slow though - and it's extremely anxiety producing to not know if not hearing is a rejection or simply them not sending out decisions yet!

Ohio State was pretty ninja about admissions, such that interviews were sent like a week or two in December. Also (to my understanding), the social program doesn't do interviews for Ohio State.

I heard from them like... 9 days ago.

Edit: Though, the fact that so many haven't heard from social is nice (eerily nice, but I'll have hope).

Zeph and Avidman, would you mind telling me if you got an official departmental notice or a message from poi for OSU? Could you also pm me your poi? If not, that's fine too, it seems many people are hush-hush about their poi.

It was a message from the POI. Sadly, I am going to stay hush-hush about it as well (bad juju).

Well thank you anyways avid man, the fact that it was a poi makes me feel better. I applied to the decision making interdisciplinary department but some of the those professors are housed in the social.

For me it was a phone call from the POI. I'll send you a pm.
