So i just received a response from Ina and she said i should not worry about that. At least im still in the waiting game! thank god!

Haha....ditto what Mimblewimble said. I was just going to post the same. Phewf! as my son would say.

Did she happen to give any hints as to further notifications?

Hi chatterbrain and mimblewimble,

yes it is. I was telling my friend how i would rather get a rejection letter than not being considered at all.

She didnt say anything but i asked, we will see what she response next.

She said everything will be sent in waves. Maybe they are just notifying the cream of the crop first. stay calm guys! im still very happy that im still in the waiting game!

im just wondering, do they notify instate or out of state first or its purely random? I heard that UNC mainly accept their own students/in state students but i dont know if its true! I hope not because im out of state! haha

I have no idea where the students they accept into their program are from, but I have a hard time believing they are unfairly prejudiced to UNC-CH students. Firstly, they don't have an undergraduate major program, only a minor. That doesn't mean they don't accept some students from it, but they advertise pretty strongly that they are looking for a diverse group of students.

In fact, in the lecture capture of the 'Accepted Students Meeting' from last year I am sure I remember one of the professors talking about how she felt so sorry for professors from other universities when they would mention that nearly all of their graduate students came from their own graduate program. If I remember correctly, she thought that sounded dreadfully boring.

Speechie92 said Ina Diana mentioned they notify in 'waves.' I wish I knew what that meant! lol I'm guessing they start with their first picks for acceptances. I wonder how many rejections and wait-list notifications actually go out each day and how those are decided. *Sigh* I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

At least every day that passes means we're one day closer to finding out!

Good luck to everyone!

I'm sorry whoever isn't happy about this.

Received an acceptance yesterday, along with an email saying this -Hello and congratulations!

Hopefully, by now, each of  has received notification  that you have been recommended for admission into the master’s degree program (SLP) in Speech and Hearing Sciences at the University of North Carolina -Chapel Hill.  If you have not received notification, you can expect to hear the good news shortly!

Thanks for posting, but that email doesn't make much sense to me. Isn't the "notification" they are referencing the email itself?  Very confusing.

kiran...(on my mobile and can't see the rest of your username as i reply),

I would never be unhappy for someone else's acceptance. Congratulations! Thank you for taking the time to share that information. The inevitable is intevitable, whether it be good news or bad news.

May I ask what time if day you received the email and whether your portal updated?

I suppose I'll hold out hope 'til the bitter end, lol.

This is a bit off topic, but why did you all decide to apply to UNC-Chapel Hill? I've seen a lot of people say it's their top choice!

I applied too (still haven't heard anything though haha) but I don't know a ton about the program, so I'd love to hear your reasons!

And I hope everyone hears back soon!!

tobslp,

I was a early intervention teacher and was trained in teacch! since teacch originated from unc i thought it will be a great opportunity for me to learn and utilise current and future knowledge into practice. Furthermore, im bilingual and come from a diverse background so seeing what unc had to offer i thought it was a good choice!

Kiran, congrats on your acceptance!

I hope we still can hear good news soon. Honestly, seeing so much acceptance is stressing me a little but again, no news means good news!

ChattBrain , I didn't mean feel bad About my acceptance! I meant That their email states That acceptances should be out now, for the admitted applicants.

They've sent out invites to the open house and stuff.

Hi Kiran,

I didn't really think you thought someone might feel bad about your acceptance, just about our angst compared to others' acceptances in general. Awe, the pesky pragmatics of virtual communication, lol. It can be hard to portray tone in chat forums and I always try to make sure I am conveying the general conversational courtesies I am intending to portay. :-)

Thank you for the further details about what you have received from the admissions committee. When I read your initial post, I didn't take away an explicit statement that no further acceptances would be sent out, but wishful thinking can play tricks on one's mind, can't it? ;-) I just thought it was informing the people who had been accepted in that wave would soon receive further, more official acceptances.

Ce que sera sera

One can always hope for a miracle, right? :-) I have applied to many programs, but Chapel Hill is my dream. If it isn't meant to be, it isn't meant to be.

For now, I'll still wish everyone still hoping 'Good Luck!' Let's hope the campus opens long enough tomorrow to hear something.

Ciao ciao

;-)

Yes, it's quite difficult to portray the true meaning purely through text communication.

I do hope you get it, if it's your dream.

I'm sure there are people who will end up in rejecting at a later stage and you've not received a rejection which is a very good sign. Good luck :)

Kiran, are you planning to accept the offer or are you still considering other schools?

I recently go rejected from UNC Chapel Hill. So I believe they are sending out rejections first lol.
