This is especially true if the deadline is later (like February or later). Reviewing applications takes time and they may not start looking at them until after the deadline. If you have a deadline to commit to the other program, I would call the director and let them know that they are your top choice, but you have an offer and need to respond by x date and would like to know if they can tell you where you stand. There's not much else you can do. It's actually a doctoral program I am waiting on. The application for the Master's program was sent just in case. I emailed #1's Graduate Director for Psychology. Do you recommend contacting anyone else?
WillComeTrue Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 Hi @catsandcrochet, I understand the frustration and anxiety the wait brings. For your case, I think it depends on whether you are waiting to hear back post-interview or without an interview. In the former, you might have been waitlisted (it seems like programs sometimes don't let their applicants know about this...) and they are just working their way through the waitlist still. In the latter, I think at this point hearing nothing from schools means rejection, because most psych programs, especially clinical psych programs interview their applicants to consider them for admission. In either case, I think you can email your PI for more information on the progress on admission or contact the graduate secretary. At this point you've been waiting pretty patiently that they will understand if you email with questions. I hope things work out for your well.
WillComeTrue Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Hello, everyone. I don't know who is still hanging out on this forum, but, because you all were incredible supporters and my source of energy during my difficult times, I thought I'd stopped by to happily announce that I have been officially accepted off the waitlist from my top choice school. It really feels surreal and I really cannot believe that this has actually happened. I think it will take some time to sink in. This month has been quite wonderful for me actually, so I am very thankful for everything that I am given. It is indeed one of the best, most incredible thing that has happened to me. I really wish the best of luck to everyone who is starting this fall, or who is trying again next application cycle. I wish you all the best!!! Thank you so much for being there for me. emhopefulme, deeeeeletedpeacetgc, mind_reader and 2 others 5

WillComeTrue Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 @Gvh Thank you! I will be heading to NY! It is exciting and nerve-wrecking at the same time... Best of luck to you, too! Gvh 1
