I have heard many people talk about not hearing anything from the schools they applied to and later on finding out they were rejected. Is this really the case? Do people have to wait and wait and wait to be told "you are rejected"? What has been your "waiting for results" experience? At the moment I am being tortured!!

My first notification from any school was a rejection and it was back in February so luckily I didn't have to wait long. I guess it just depends on the school and how many applicants they have!

This is what happened to me last year :( Decisions began going out in early March (I only applied to one school), and I didn't get my rejection until the end of April. I knew it was coming though, from watching this forum. So brutal!

Keep in mind I'm in Canada, so it could be different here.

I only applied to 2. So I'm in a state of desperation. Ugh.

Ah, I totally get it. Such a frustrating, helpless feeling! I was on edge for weeks. I'll keep sending positive vibes your way :)

QuietStorm, this has happening to me two years now. It is not looking good for year three. I have the same sentiment.

It seems very silly, torturous, and unnecessary to me to make applicants wait so long just told be told they are rejected. I also don't get why there aren't official decision dates. There are a couple schools in Canada that have the same date for ALL decisions every year. So much better!!

Some schools are kinda like that. Mostly the ones that send out a first round of acceptances and then wait to hear from that group. I know UVA is like that and possibly Michigan state and U of Utah but I'm not positive. Why they don't just make a wait list group and tell you then I have no clue. But if they do just send out a wave of acceptances it's not over usually until they fill the cohort. And lots of schools will accept off the wait list or their next round of choices after the first set.
