YAY! Congrats to both of you. Willow, are you coming in a few weeks to visit NU?

It is such a relief because I thought the only news I would be receiving today was a rejection from Berkeley, which should be coming any moment now (a guy posted in the results that he phoned and they told him they would email all the decisions today).

It's so funny that a few of us might actually end up in the same program next year given the relatively small size thereof

undergraduate degree in a top 3 university in China; master degree in a top 10 US university, also an Ivy league university.

GRE: 530V, 800Q, 4.0W

I think what really helps is the master GPA (4.0/4.0) and research experience in US, and also two reference letters from the biz-school professors and another letter from a SEAS professor. Two of them know me really well. I guess another thing is I made presentation at ISMP, which is the Olympics in math programming field (correct me if I am wrong). So attending the conference that everyone knows (like INFORMS, ISMP, etc.) could help, I think ~

Looks like a pretty calm day on the application front. There are so many schools which have not given answers yet...

By the way, I saw a Cornell admission yesterday, does anyone know anything about Cornell?

cool.gif It seems we should wait a couple of weeks to hear about the second round of result notifications!

Anyone has any updates from universities?

By the way, happy valentine!

Strange to see a single admit (on board) for Cornell and no-one else hearing from Cornell. Also there was an interview call for ORFE, Princeton for some guy. Any details abt that? Anyone else got a call?

The coming week is crucial. Princeton usually sends its accepts and rejects within a span of 2 days in 3rd week Feb. Also results from Cornell should be available soon.

From the OR thread last year, Cornell is changing their strategy. They make very attractive offer to the best candidate very early such that they can compete with other best OR programs, like Stanford or MIT, on the best applicants. Then, they might slow the process a little bit. It is not surprised if you receive their offer after April. They did that all the time. Cornell is the heaven for PURE math guys. Stay away from them if you are not that into the PURE math part of OR.

Is it a good idea to call them and find out the status of your application? or is it best to wait?

I

you'll probably get a generic reply, but you don't have to give them your name.

Has anyone heard or contacted UMich? It seemed like it was going to come soon, than nothing. Anyone got any news at all?
