hopefulslp1
I just got finished matching my transcript with the prereqs for my schools on CSDCAS but realized that I don't have some of the prereqs that some schools require (i.e., sociology and artic & phonological disorders). I marked that I am not matching any courses to these prereqs. Will these deter my application in any way? My undergrad program didn't allow us to take an artic/phono disorders class bc it was only for grad students and I never took soc because I took psych instead. I know I can call the schools and ask which I plan on doing but I figured I would ask here as well! Has anyone else ran into this issue before and it ended up not being a problem? I just don't want it to cause the schools to not look at me because my undergrad didn't offer one or two of the classes that they require.
chipsahoy2018
I've had the issues a few times of my undergrad uni not offering some of the prereqs! I have the same questions.
Dee2017
I applied to Mercy College and received an email today informing me that I will not be considered for their program unless I take a linguistics course that they require. It is not required for my program so I have not taken it. They will not accept course equivalents and there is no conditional acceptance where you have to agree to take the course during the first semester of graduate school. Be careful about wasting your time and money although I think it varies from school to school. Good luck!
Swishfish22
From my experience, there are some schools that really care and require you to have them when you apply, others that want you to take it before you start there, others that have you take them while in their program, and others that do not care at all. I recommend calling each school you're interested and ask them where they stand on required prerequisites--that's what I did last year. You can make a list of what school needs what and then determine if you need to take anything or not.
