12sliders Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 Hi! I was wondering what current social work students are planning to do over the summer? Get a job? Volunteer? Curious to hear from you!

I plan on taking a few summer courses so I can have fewer year 2 classes.
Adelaide9216 Posted December 25, 2017 Posted December 25, 2017 (edited) I'm a RA for my supervisor so I will keep on working on that during the summer part-time. I've also applied for a job on sexual violence prevention that's also part-time. Hopefully, I'll also be starting my data collection (scheduling and doing interviews with my participants) for my master's thesis if all goes well. Edited December 25, 2017 by Adelaide9216
alisham Posted December 26, 2017 Posted December 26, 2017 I haven't exactly ironed out my summer plans yet, but I'm thinking of taking a couple of summer courses to have a lighter schedule my last year. I also have a friend who works at a social service agency as a Child Development Specialist and she tells me they are constantly looking for more workers, so I'll probably work there full-time in the summer and cut back to per diem once school starts (I've spoken to them and they seem pretty flexible when it comes to scheduling). I'll also continue my volunteering duties at my state's NARAL pro-choice chapter.
Garcia_2020 Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 I'll be doing my BSW field practicum! Yay I'm still in the process of being placed, but looks like I'll be doing my internship somewhere in addictions or in a domestic violence center. I'm super excited & nervous at the same time. I'm also considering keeping my current job at an RTC working with youth with ASD, once a week for spare cash.
