Question

Hi everyone,

This is my first post on the gradcafe site. I've read things here throughout the years but finally decided I have a question I can't find the answer to elsewhere! I am currently applying to grad (PhD) programs for Fall of 18 in Rhetoric or Communications with a focus in rhetoric. I am finishing up my applications, but I was really hoping to get more information on Michigan Technological University's PhD in Rhetoric, Theory, & Culture. I know I should just ask the program directly, but there are only so many questions I can send out before feeling like a nuisance. I am really just interested in funding (what kind of budget I could expect while there), their reputation in the field of rhetorical studies, job placement, or the experiences of any former or current students. I'm guessing the program is too obscure to get a response on here, but any information would help. Thanks y'all!

I searched around the website for a bit and found this:
http://www.mtu.edu/gradschool/financial/assistantships/stipends/index.html

It seems like most funding within the program comes from teaching assistantships. The minimum stipend is $6800 per semester or $13,600 per academic year if you don't have an MS degree. This jumps to $7895 per semester or $15,790 if you do have an MS degree.

I had seen that actually. The only reason I was still uncertain was because I had seen a post on gradcafe from someone who said they had been accepted to the RTC program with a 30k funding package. I'm also not sure if an MA would not receive the higher funding because it isn't an MS. Also, thanks so much for helping me look for answers here!
