  1. Sorry
  2. Congratulations! I'm so happy for you!
  3. Also an alternate for the second time in a row, and I wish it would have been a rejection as well based on my waiting experience last year and the fact that I'm also applying for jobs and postdocs and things right now. I think for me, if I do get converted, I won't feel badly about it because the factors that go into the difference between Principal and Alternate are beyond your control. It doesn't mean that the Principals projects are objectively better or whatever. It means that they wanted more people working on X and you're working on Y or something like that. If you do get converted, be proud of yourself!
  4. Happy to share friends Best wishes to all on negotiations and campus visits!
  5. Thanks! After last year, I'm not feeling very optimistic, but I appreciate the well wishes!
  6. Just got my Italy notification as well. Also an alternate. Again. For the second year in a row. Seriously, Italy, are you just stringing me along here? Ugh. Anyway, congratulations to everyone who got good news today and hoping everyone gets answers soon!
  7. That's adorable! Hi to your mom
  8. Yay! Congrats to everyone they are finalists today, and condolences to any getting bad news.
  9. IT HAS BEGUN!!!!
  10. Hello fellow Italy semi-finalists! I applied for the general research grant to work at University of Bologna. Hope we all get good news soon!
  11. Japan's was also early (March 4) and earlier than in previous years. Either way, I hope that notifications start coming soon.
  12. Italy doesn't. I think a lot of the European countries don't have it (though I'm not an expert on that fact).
  13. It looks like we're definitely delayed, or early notified people aren't here or updating. Last year I remember that there were notifications on March 2 for Iceland. Thanks, Trump! lol
  14. Follow the money. If Fordham is giving you a lot more, go there, but if you'd go deeply in debt even at Fordham, I'd recommend declining and reapplying with a focus on more fully funded MA programs. Search these forums on NYU's MA program and you'll find that it, like UChicago's MAPH, has a very mixed reputation. Cash cow programs can work for some people, but especially if you're not independently wealthy or something, the debt for a humanities degree is not a good idea.
  15. It's crazy! I hope your job marketing is going better than mine PM me if you ever want to talk about it. And thanks Wyatt's Terps! At least I've got "tenure" somewhere. Haha!
