  1. look lively
  2. I'm trying not to sing "The Final Countdown" (doodooDOOdoo) here.
  3. Does this mean decisions could go out as early as next week? Probably not, I 'spose.
  4. OH GOD What I really mean is: thank you, PhDreams! You're so encouraging to all of us hopefuls.
  5. Congrats, JHampton!!!
  6. CQE just took the words out of my mouth/out of my keyboard. He's already put up with my rambles about Amy Poehler. She's just one of those winning human beings, what can I say? And your EdD plans sound exciting! (Any reason to achieve a Leslie Knope dream is a good reason.)
  7. Hi, tbaldwin and SrtaHowell! SrtaHowell, what program did you apply for? (And what TV are you watching - at the rate I'm at, I'll be done with 30 Rock by, oh, next week... yeesh!)
  8. I don't know if you need to worry about it being a hint; I haven't even applied to the program I was thinking about at TC (Arts Administration) and I'm still getting bombarded with "deadline extended! apply today!" emails after speaking with one of the admissions reps, so maybe it's a more generally rolling process there.
  9. Oh Downton. That show is so addictive. I walked around with the music from Downton Abbey stuck in my head for weeks after I marathonned the first two seasons... I like to think it added a touch of class and drama to everything I did (a classier cereal-pouring cannot be thought of).
  10. I'm blasting my way through 30 Rock. It's amazing and tear-jerkingly funny. (Netflix is enabling me during this difficult time. )
  11. Aww! Hang in there, all. You're all awesome. m26, it has, for sure! It's just nice to relax and know that I'm headed somewhere regardless, y'know? For museum education, you can't do much better than GWU, so I know that I'll be headed exciting fabulous regardless. But at the same time, the HGSE program is special... so I'm still pulling my hair out waiting. ASzofer, I definitely feel you! I just want to know. I've been browsing apartments in D.C. and thinking about loans & aid stuff but there's still that voice in the back of my head telling me to remember Cambridge and HGSE and argh!
  12. anxiousdance. How's everyone feelin'?
  13. I did too! Say whaaa? I totally sent that before February 4! Guess it's an automated confirmation for everyone?
  14. Hear hear, ASzofer! Lucky to not have much debt after generous undergrad financial aid, so hey... Might as well get that classic indebted student experience while I can. Haha. (EDIT: I know debt is no joke! I promise. I merely mean that it's an investment I'm willing to make.) But, yeah, you put it perfectly. It's just worth it if it gets me to do work that's challenging and inspiring and impactful.
  15. I'm only a year out of undergrad. I feel young too, but I remember visiting HGSE and seeing that there were tons of undergrads or recent grads interested in the various programs, particularly the M.Ed programs.
  16. Hi, spreadpeace88! Yay, I'm not alone in my love of the AIE program. Your background sounds really awesome, and I bet your application was fabulous. A lot of things led me to AIE in terms of what I want to do after grad school. I - like spreadpeace88! - love theater and have been involved in it for much of my life. Right now I'm working at a regional theater and having a blast, so I knew that'd be something I could see myself doing, whether at a big theater or a smaller nonprofit. I've also always really loved informal education through cultural institutions, like museums and libraries. I've worked in both museums and libraries and I've loved both and loved especially the way you get to bring communities together through the way information is communicated. I wanted the chance to combine my own experience with an academic one and synthesize all this good stuff into an education-based career. That's why I love AIE - it'll let me touch on all of my experiences, let me try totally new things, and give me more concrete research into what educators face each day. A few of you already know about the other program I applied to, GWU's Museum Education program, which is wonderful and focused a little bit more on practice, but AIE's got a beautiful interdisciplinary bent to its curriculum. Fingers crossed.
  17. Thank you, all! I'm really excited. It's a very excited relief. Haha. Now it's time to wait for HGSE... ayyyy!
  18. I am prepared for the Mountain o' Loans. I wish my last name was Skywalker so I could have qualified for all those Jedi restricted scholarships...
  19. I love the two year (well, four semester) museum ed program at GWU that I just got into, but HGSE is special, and amazing, and yeah, I fell for it the minute I heard about it.
  20. Accepted to George Washington's Museum Education program!!! Phew.
  21. Yeah. During the application process, the GRE prep felt the most stressful because it was the most quantifiable part of each application. I know that's the point of the GRE. But it's stressful compared to the more qualitative essay/talking with your recommenders/visiting campus to see if you're a good fit/working on your resume or C.V. etc. Those let you express yourself, after all. Of course, now that everything's been in, I'm more stressed about those qualitative things... am I quality enough, HGSE? huh, huh?
  22. Same boat as you! Ah well... we know our strengths!
  23. You should hang out with us in the HGSE Fall 2013 thread. Based on HGSE threads from years past, it looks like we can expect decisions for their M.Ed programs during the first full week of March. That said, things could very well be different this year - but I am using that as a guideline!
  24. haha! I'm all jittery just thinking about it. Maybe I brewed my tea too strongly this morning, idk...
  25. You never know, OnlyHarvard. Maybe that near-miss with the Mayan Apocalypse in December 2012 prompted the HGSE admissions crew to seize the day and send it all on at once. (In all seriousness, good luck, everyone! Don't give up hope yet.)
