  1. I suppose that it might depend on the program/school but in general you can continue to log in to the website that you completed an application on, and in differing locations on that page there may/may not be decision info. A few of my programs send out admissions info via snail main only. Also, on one of my apps it took me 2-3 days after when everyone else in my program got their rejections to get mine for whatever reason. In any case, that's likely where others are looking.
  2. Congrats-it's better than a rejection right? May I ask how you were notified?
  3. I can't tell you how many people I've had to say things like "thanks for the optimism, but that's not how it works when the humanities aren't all that well funded and most of my programs only accept those they can fund" then they look at me like I'm an idiot
  4. most appreciated-cheers to that! I've got a favorite of course (I mean really who doesn't) but I'd be more than happy no matter what. Here's hoping that it's not a really bad week next week!
  5. rejection came in from Brown finally-it's nice to have it done even though I'd been betting on that one for a while
  6. in an attempt to not eat as much I'm pretty sure I'm responsible for the office's water cooler bill going up exponentially....drinking absolutely ridiculous amounts of it....
  7. Not me. Any news from them on your front?
  8. hand breaded chicken fingers that I feel moderately guilty about. now eating unsweetened applesauce to avoid eating all the cookies and other delicious treats in the file cabinet behind me
  9. I would assume we all just have to sit tight and wait for whatever news is to come our way. I've heard nothing on any of mine that I'm waiting on either
  10. This is by far the most fantastic thing I've seen on GC.
  11. I agree with pears. I can see the end of my sanity about a mile off, and that's being a humanities person! I feel like the vagueness of what is weighted more in our programs is both a blessing and a hindrance-in some ways it'd be nice to know what they're using but it does make it easier to justify your self-worth no matter the answer
  12. yes yes yes YES!. I've been saying it all along to friends, family, and really anyone who will listen to me babble on and on mindlessly. you know that no matter the program they eventually come down to an initial cut-if they do that initial cut 3 weeks after the deadline why wait another 3 months? oh standardized apps-I seriously had to double check that I had my birthday and name spelled right 2984734883 times on all my separate apps because I was paranoid about a typo. By doing this you would lower the blood pressure of candidates 50 points, which would be most appreciated come decision season
  13. pears: I feel you. It's been nearly 3 months since 2 of my apps went in (Dec. 15) and it's been 8 weeks since the other 2. one programs told us to expect decisions in early March so I'm chomping at the bit on that one because some PhD only candidates (I'm MA/PhD) have been notified. It's driving me absolutely insane that I still have no idea on these 2-like I said, I'm pretty sure I know the answer for the other 2, although hope is never 100% gone until the letter is in front of me. I might join you in being a ball under a desk until I get decisions
  14. I give you kudos for your courage-I'm dying to do the same, but I feel like I know 2 of the answers and I'm afraid for the other 2
  15. had a dream I got accepted into a program I didn't even apply to last night. even in my dream world I was like "wow, that doesn't make any sense because I didn't apply-but that's awesome!" survey says I may have officially lost it
  16. had a dream I got accepted into a program I didn't even apply to last night. even in my dream world I was like "wow, that doesn't make any sense because I didn't apply-but that's awesome!" survey says I may have officially lost it
  17. finally gave in and tried the Magic 8 Ball and it had quite good news for me. wouldn't it be hilarious to find out that's how candidates are selected? anyone who gets "ask again later" gets wait listed, and definitive answers for everyone else
  18. nothing from Maryland yet for me
  19. anyone else feeling a little like Dr. Evil? http://movieclips.com/Yq4H-austin-powers-international-man-of-mystery-movie-throw-me-a-frickin-bone-here/18.4/53.64
  20. Congrats-might not be an acceptance but its better than a rejection right? So glad someone is getting decent news on this gloomy Friday
  21. sorry kglad. seems it's not our day today :/ as one of my favorite UG profs just wrote me and said "It's all so random I've given up predicting what will happen. Hang in there-it's not over yet!"
  22. sent an email to UNC a few days ago, got a response a few moments ago with the unofficial rejection. Very kind of her to let me know so that I wouldn't have to sit around waiting, as she said my rejection letter will come around "eventually" what's interesting is that I had worked with a prof in the dept. at my undergraduate so my former profs thought with their program being new and my contact, that I would stand a better chance. Clearly not so lucky
  23. wasn't me on either GWU or SUNY. didn't apply to either of those programs, but here's to hoping I'll have something to be congratulated about soon!
