For those that have sent an acceptance email to SSHRC, how long was it before you received notification of receipt?

The big brown envelope showed up in Vancouver today. 17.15/20 after 2 years of not even making it out of my department.

Submit some forms that they link, send a copy of the letter from SSHRC, and send a copy of the email you send to SSHRC accepting the award.

No letter in Vancouver today but I got a "how to activate your award" email from the university so it's feeling a little more real

I saw a post on twitter from someone in Halifax that got their letter. Seems it's just Ontario that's being goofy

Got a notification from our graduate secretary on Friday that my application was successful ? I just now went through the 2016 thread (because I'm neurotic and won't believe it's real until I actual have the physical letter) and it looks like people started getting emails on a Friday, Ontario got physical letters on Monday or Tuesday, and west coast got physical letters Wednesday or Thursday. So hopefully everyone should know their results by the end of this coming week.

Wasn't being critical, i just wanted to reassure the already stressed out lil undergrads that they shouldn't shart their jorts thinking there'll be on average at least one shutout for every two applicants. Tho I guess there probably aren't a lot of current students still frequenting the forums so maybe that wouldn't look any less skewed :/

i feel neglecting to include "i was accepted my first application season" as an option in the poll makes the concern look worse than it is

it doesn't change very often but it has changed since then. i'm not sure how fundamentally different they are content-wise, but anything teaching to the test will probably be a little wonky.

In episode 9 of season 5 of The Simpsons, The Last Temptation of Homer, our lovable antihero quips "another day, another box of stolen pens". To me, that box of stolen pens is a lot like a Masters of social work. First you have the box, the box is the glue that holds the box of stolen pens together. Without the box, the pens would be strewn about, many lying in the gutter. I aim to use my masters of social work to become that box, that holds the stolen pens of society together. The pens, as you may infer, are the clients. Pens have a few parts, a cap and a pen. A pen is a lot like a man. A cap is like a man's hat. And a man without his hat is no man, much like a poem without a cap us no pen. A pen also has an ink stick which can run out of ink. Ink is a lot like social work if toy run out of ink, you call me. I'll ink that pen, cap that pen, and box that pen. The holy triumvirate of this pen analogy. Homer also said the pens were stolen. Stealing can mean taking something that is not to yours. What was stolen from these pens? The answer is there soul. I will work hard to get the souls back to all of my uh clients. Finally, homer says "another day". Suggesting this is a repetitive process. Homer may be a narcoleptic who is stealing an insane amount if pens and has to be stopped. A good way to stop him might be to catch him in some sort of trap. Another way to stop a person is with violence. In conclusion, I really like wanna so my master if social work at Unusually Flat Ass University. Lemme please. Thanks, Love, Daisydukes

i also sorta doubt that one's ability to rattle off a few syllogisms under extremely tight time constraints reflects one's ability to write a research paper much at all

i think AW is generally considered less important, as your ability to write is reflected in your personal statement + any additional writing samples anyway. that said, having a good score is still a plus. i think a lot of people assume that the AW will be a wank, put no effort into preparing, and end up doing poorly because a really specific format is expected. in my experience, it seems like the hardest section to go into blind, though it doesn't take a whole lot of preparation. find some pretenseless "the GRE tests your ability to take the GRE, so we're gonna teach you how to take the GRE" type study guide, put in a couple of days of practice runs for time + reading sample essays (high and low scoring) and you'll probably get like a 4.5 or so
