  1. I hope this means that you all made it past the first round. =)
  2. Best of luck! I hope you get positive news from Vanderbilt over the next couple of days. If you haven't been rejected yet, that is probably a good sign.
  3. There is an Iowa acceptance board as well.
  4. Last year was the earliest NYU has ever reported back. They could come at any time, but there is a chance that acceptances from them won't come until much later in the month (10th-20th).
  5. Recs. can still come in after the deadline at most schools. I wouldn't stress out about it too much. If they arrive in the next week or two you'll be fine.
  6. They probably try to tell people over the phone. I wouldn't worry about it.
  7. Congrats to the Northwestern admit! Yay! Great program!
  8. My partner made it!
  9. That's a lot of creative writing news all at once.
  10. I accidentally have some poetry books that are worth some money. I bought them, they went out of print, and now they're kind of rare. I try not to collect them intentionally--I already have an absurd book fetish (there are way too many books in our small apartment)... adding collectable books to that would be troublesome. Also, moving with all of these books is going to be annoying. I did make this the other day: http://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/flourless_lemon_almond_cake/ It tasted pretty bourgeois. Did I mention I've also almost made it to the bottom of that hibiscus grapefruit gin? Yep.
  11. Congrats to the Minnesota CSCL/CSDS acceptances! Awesome program!
  12. Things will work out. Feel better. =(
  13. =( I hope you get some good news soon!
  14. I hope I didn't come across as a braggy-mc-bragface. I was just trying to say that I'm grateful for the acceptances that I have. Having somewhere to go is a big relief. I still worry about the results from quite a few schools (there are still places I would love to get into, surely)--but the edge has been taken away a bit. I'm thankful for that -- I'm actually trying to move on to doing a bit more actual work instead of hovering around in a stressed state (although I do still manage to spend too much time on these forums). & yeah, sure, there is still some anxiety--who knows how things will be once the dust has settled? But it is a lot better than it was before I'd heard anything.
  15. It does, I just sort of shrugged when the first Madison acceptances were posted (assuming that I also had been rejected) -- I guess that indifference was unnecessary given that I got in, but I definitely didn't feel as stressed as I might have. I also shrugged off a UC Santa Cruz rejection (History of Consciousness) pretty easily (well people have posted acceptances, and they accept like 4 people). But I guess I'll see how nonchalant I am about certain other schools -- every time the "Duke Literature" thread jumps back up to the top of the forum, I feel a little odd, and then I remember that the "Literature" department is different than the "English" department, and everything goes back to normal.
  16. Yep, literary studies. That said, I assumed I was rejected when I saw those first acceptances on the board, and I got an email an hour later. So who knows? Also... Madison tends to admit a lot of students, and doesn't always fund them equally. A lot of first year students end up fighting over 8k per year stipends (research/desk positions) from what I've heard... so I'm anxious to hear about funding.
  17. Thanks! Poetry and poetics, phenomenology, affect theory, posthumanism, queer theory, history of gender, etc.
  18. I got into Madison also (about an hour after the first admits were posted)! No info on funding packages yet.
  19. Yes! Congrats to the Madison admits! Awesome!
  20. It could be legit -- maybe they told someone they were accepted, but they needed some more information in order to nominate them for a fellowship (or something like that). Still, either way, the majority of Buffalo acceptances haven't come yet -- they're usually accompanied by a bunch of admits to the unfunded MA program.
