Final Decision Thread 2013

But weren't you waitlisted? And if so, could that convert. -
This is a pungent question. Dry food is vital for heathy teeth. However, it is critical that is of excellent quality (ie avoid beneful/purina brands which are oversaturated with GM corn). I would recommend the Hills range.

Don't sweat the post-decision blahs

You know what I am petrified of? That the university will rescind their offer. I'm finishing my MA next month and my fear is if I don't get the perfect grad on my thesis, I will be rejected. Am I irrational? -

Can someone walk me through F1 visa application?
Porridge replied to arnds's topic in IHOG: International House of Grads
Thanks so much for this information. I saw TAL warnings on the school's website - fortunately, it does not apply in my case. -

How long does it take to approve the visa. I have an interview in an couple of weeks. I know on the websites they say, within 60 days. What are people's experiences? -
Which realtors or companies are recommendable? Who should I stay away from?

Moving Across the Country
Porridge replied to ProfLorax's topic in Literature, and Rhetoric and Composition
Does any one have any experience looking for and signing up for appartments while you're still abroad? ETA: I'm also bringing my pets as well. -
I'd like to add to this post. I am an international and would like advice about how to secure an appartment while being out of the country. I will be unable to attend the university's international and graduate housing as I will be bringing my pets from abroad.

Actually I've been fortunate to meet many Americans. I can genuinely say that all of them were really lovely and curious - except for one ass. But he would have been an ass regardless of his nationality. -
What would you do differently?
Porridge replied to bluecheese's topic in Literature, and Rhetoric and Composition
Well I kind of did this (except for the corporate bit. But I was getting good money. Gave it up and. Do. Not. Regret. It. ETA: My SOP was so narrow it was sharp. I got positive results everywhere bar one place. -

Where are you? PM me. Curious. I'm an international but I turned down their offer before funding decisions. Did you get the full 5 years? -
Seems straight forward.

Unless your personal history relates some how to your academic area, don't add your life story. It is an Academic Statement of Purpose.
