  5. No... Did you? Any response?
  6. And as a science applicant, I am living vicariously through one of my non-science friends who is still turning in applications to take my mind off of my up-and-coming interviews that are stressing me out.
  7. @mathandbrains from a previous year may be helpful, as well as this blog post.
  8. A few of us heard from Duke on December 19th. Good luck, everyone!
  9. It looks mostly good! Here are my suggestions. They will know this from other parts of your application, so you should probably leave it out. I wouldn't say that your undergraduate education has any limitations. Emphasize the positives. I'm not sure "absorbed" is the best word choice here. Enthralled? I don't think statistics should be capitalized here, or in any other part of your SOP . Also, this sentence is a bit wordy. Perhaps separate it into two different ones? "Cementing" also seems like an odd word to use, but maybe that's just me. I would try not to insult other disciplines. The field of statistics itself does not have the capacity to do anything. Statisticians may delve into the framework of other subjects, etc. Same problem here. I would avoid mentioning teaching. At least in my field, research should always be the priority. Be more specific here! Which faculty interest you? I would leave this out. It just seems like you are being a brown-noser.
  10. I tried going to their website but they took down the link I took to get to my application. EDIT: Nevermind. Found it. "Under Review" as well.
  11. @ksnider Where can you check your status for UCSF?
  12. Oh, I applied to NGP, so that probably changes things. Sorry again. But, you got an interview from Emory, so I would expect that you will get more. Don't give up either!
  13. Just checking... Did you apply to the NGP or Behavioral Neuroscience at OHSU?
  14. Hmm. Well it's weird I haven't gotten a response either way. Guess I'll assume rejection.
  15. @LMac Sorry. . Was it via e-mail? I haven't gotten a rejection or an interview yet...
  16. To be fair, it was a pretty cool magnet.
  17. The main thing: practice tests on the computer. Get yourself acquainted with and prepare for the testing format. I think ETS provides one or two practice tests for free. I also did a free one from the Princeton Review and I bought a Kaplan book that came with five online practice tests. I also bought flashcards for vocabulary and used the Kaplan book for quantitative and analytical writing strategies.
  18. @mathandbrains My interview at Vanderbilt is the 25th! Wow! Guess we're going to be best friends by the end of this.
  19. Yes. I had a school send me a snail-mail letter in a heavy envelope, so I thought it was something important. Turns out it was just a letter saying they were reviewing my application and a magnet.
  20. Thanks for letting me know! @strangelypleasant They didn't mention the number of interviewees in the e-mail, but their website says that they have an average of 8 matriculants per year, meaning they probably accept around 15, meaning they probably interview 20-30.
  21. @kmb268 I was interested! Congrats!!! @HS2013 Congrats!!!
  22. Just got an email saying I was invited to interview at Duke Neurobiology. I can't believe it!
  23. play time
  24. Don't throw in the towel yet. Many schools send out interview requests in waves (from what I can tell by looking at thegradcafe survey histories), especially those with multiple interview weekends. Many times you will be notified in January or even February for later interview dates. I'm sure there are cases where they have already sent all the interviews, but that is probably not the case for all of them.
  25. Yes, that's reassuring. I really want to visit Portland!
